Covering an impressive wide-angle to super-telephoto range, the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM from Canon is a true all-in-one lens for nearly any shooting situation. Its 10x zoom range is complemented by an Optical Image Stabilizer, which compensates for up to five stops of camera shake to better realize sharp imagery when shooting handheld. Dynamic IS also benefits video recording, and better compensates for footage shot while walking or moving. Benefitting both stills and video is a Nano USM autofocus motor, which delivers quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance. Additionally, the lens also features a unique customizable Control Ring, which can be configured to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.

All-in-one zoom is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by five stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. Also, when recording video, Dynamic IS is available and is a more active type of stabilization to suit recording while walking or moving, and is especially useful at the wide-angle end of the zoom range.
Nano USM system utilizes both a ring type USM and an STM mechanism to realize quick and accurate focusing that is also smooth and near-silent to suit both photography and video applications. This focusing system also affords full-time manual focus control when working in the one-shot AF mode.
Configurable Control Ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.

How to fix distortion around the edges.

If you shoot raw and use LR you might find the outer few pixels are distorted. The problem is with the Adobe lens profile. Turn on lens corrections and pick the version that eliminates the distortion (I think it's V2). I used this lens on a Portugal tour and was about to cry when I saw all the photos with huge distortion around the frame. Luckily I found the the Adobe lens profile was the issue... and when I switched the lens profile everything was fine.

This is the best superzoom lens that I have ever used. It has sharp focus throughout the zoom range. The zoom range gives you everything except a really powerful telephoto. It acts like a faster lens than the f4 - 6.3 would lead you to expect of it. The stabilization in it is excellent. It is worth at least 3 f stops. The only drawback is that there is a lot of glass to carry around. This lens on an EOS R6 weighs in at 3 1/4 lb.

Now that I have retired, I wanted an all-around lens for hiking and travel that would give me wonderful results. I sold my heavier, multiple lenses system and bought the RF24-240mm lens with a mirrorless camera. After adding some filters and a simple nodal rail in a small shoulder/hip bag, I now have a light weight solution for landscape and architectural photos that delivers superb images! Optical distortions and chromatic aberrations (all lens have these issues) are beautifully corrected by Canon's in-camera software for JPGs and Canon's desktop software for RAW images. I enjoy shooting RAW and post processing. For those pixel-peepers out there, Lightroom and DXO Photolab automatically correct optical distortions and chromatic aberrations for the RF 24-240mm lens. With a 10x zoom range, light weight, image stabilization and comfortable ergonomics, the RF 24-240mm is fun to shoot. What's not to love?

This an amazing lens. I have a Canon R5. I gave my R to my wife with that lens. I can not tell you how much I missed it. Now i bought another. I have other RF L lens. The RF 24-240 LENS IS A MUST HAVE TOOL!!!

We really almost didn't file a review. Canon is more or less always great. Still, this lens is great in all aspects. We don't use it in such a manner as to push every aspect of it, but our normal use is always a pleasure.

Optics and features are great. Works well with the R5 body. The 10 to 1 zoom pretty much covers from a nice wide angle view to a telephoto that allows for some good close ups, including wild life. It is not a light weight lens so will add to the total weight of the camera but I soon got used to it.

There is a switch on the lens barrel labeled "Focus Control." I am assuming it switches the control ring to manual focus function, which is actually a pretty clever idea. Let me add that I prefer the control ring next to the body, as it is on this lens and the adapter, rather than at the objective end as it is on the RF 24-105.

Would this be a reasonable lens to use for capturing event video using the Canon Cinema EOS C200?

This is an RF mount lens, you will not be able to use it on the C200 which has an EF Mount. There is no adapter that will allow you to use an RF Mount lens on an EF mount camera either.
