Choice re cpl filter? A 62mm - will lens hood still work? Or a 43mm screwed into the lens hood?
Asked by: Robert
The FUJIFILM GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR Lens uses a 62mm filter thread. And you can add that size filter to the lens. The hood that the lens comes with can screw into a filter that has that has a front thread. but you might get some vignette when using it with a filter. This is is some good polarizing filter options, https://bhpho.to/3CTCVqU

The FUJIFILM GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR Len works with CPL Filters that are 62mm thread. If the CPL has a 62mm front thread you can use the hood.

What is the aperture equivalent of a 35 mm system compared to f/3.5 of this lens?
Asked by: Achim
The aperture of the FUJIFILM GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR is the same as for any 50mm f/3.5 lens--it's a ratio of focal length to effective aperture diameter, so there is no difference between different formats, only different focal lengths.

does the lens come with a hood ?
Asked by: Herve
As mentioned previously, there is a small metal hood included which screws on to the front of the lens and has its own 43mm lens cap. Worth mentioning, if youre going to use basic filters that do not have threading for filter stacking, you cannot use the hood at the same time. Having said that, I personally have not felt the need to use the hood over the 2 years Ive owned this lens. The optical coatings and element design with the small entrance pupil do quite a bit to eliminate flare and ghosting. I have several photos with the sun directly in the frame, and there are no that I can directly attribute to the lens. (Prismatic reflections off of the image sensors color filter array are occasionally present, but thats a problem for all digital cameras and not specific to Fujifilm or this lens.) I hope this helps.

Do you notice a light whirring noise coming from the lens when attached to camera body? (Not when focusing but when moving/shaking the camera)
Asked by: Yitian
Yes. Much like other mirrorless camera lenses I have used with a linear motor, including some made by Fujifilm for the XF mount (the XF 90mm f/2 R WR LM is probably a more well-known yet extreme case), the floating elements driven by the linear autofocus motors make a quiet whirring or chattering noise when the camera is on. This is the micro motors trying to keep the focusing elements in place as you move. You may also hear the elements making a dull thud when the camera is off or the lens is detached from the camera. Its nothing to worry about. Hope this helps.
