The twist locks open with a quarter turn, which enables you to extend the pole to a maximum height of 60.6". At the same time, the monopod sits on top of a foldout base via its 1/4"-20 mount, but it can also be removed to use as a separate tabletop tripod. An included 0.5 lb counterweight is included, so you can place it between the pole and base to stabilize the monopod when it is fully extended. To carry the 1.6 lb monpod, it folds down to 18".
