The T Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x Adapter for Canon EF Lens to BMPCC 4K from Metabones allows a full-frame Canon EF-mount lens to be mounted onto a Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K MFT-mount camera. While doing so, the adapter's optics help to maximize the connected lens's apparent angle of view while providing a 1-stop increase for the camera over the lens's aperture range. This 0.71x adapter features Cinema EOS lens support for auto iris and servo zoom, and it also includes AF (autofocus) support which requires external 5V power via the micro-USB port.

If a lens intended for 35mm film or similarly sized full-frame camera sensors is connected to a camera with a Micro Four Thirds-sized sensor, it would project an image larger than the Micro Four Thirds sensor was built to accept. Able to capture only the center portion of the projected image, the effective angle of view of the lens would be narrowed, creating an in-camera "crop factor." The T Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x adapter condenses the light from a lens designed for 35mm film or "full-frame" camera sensors and projects it onto a Micro Four Thirds sensor. This allows the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K with a Micro Four Thirds sensor to utilize more of the light gathered by a connected lens, which effectively reduces the crop factor while making available to the sensor an additional 1-stop of light for each of the lens's f/stop settings.

This adapter is constructed from aluminum for durability while minimizing weight and its mounting rings are made with brass to further prevent wear and tear. The internal lens elements are designed to provide optical clarity as well as color fidelity, and a detachable tripod foot is included and features 1/4"-20 threads as well as compatibility with Arca-Swiss tripod heads.

The T Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x adapter supports electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. If the lens includes autofocus, image stabilization, and camera-controlled aperture functions, this adapter is intended to allow those features to be used. Also, if an attached lens is capable of generating EXIF metadata when used with a directly compatible camera, the T Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x adapter is designed to allow that information to be saved along with image files generated with a combination of the lens, a BMPCC 4K camera, and the adapter.

A little pricey, but it does exactly what you need. It takes a little math to figure out the new focal length, but you need it in your camera bag for sure.

This is my second Metabones Speedbooster. Never had an issue with either - just a perfect adaptor to get those EF lenses on your BMPCC4K. Lenses compatible with autofocus also continue to work through the adaptor. Absolutely worth it if you're looking to get better lenses on your camera.

Bought it after being very disappointed of the commlite cheaper one... The metabones build quality is perfect, the optics are incredible. Perfect match with the Sigma 18-35 Art.

Adapted perfectly to the Sigma 18-35 lens. Auto Focus / Iris setting functions well with the BMPCC4K camera.

Honestly. It's the perfect focal reducer/lens adapter. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Also yes. Sharpness is obviously phenomenal, and the extra mounting point is a meaningful addition when using heavier lenses. If you want, though, you can actually remove it with the included hex wrenches. One thing I don't see people talking about much is how much it improves the already amazing low light performance of the camera. Using an f/1.8 lens in a dimly lit room, I don't even need to move the ISO past 1200, which is another reason to use this with a bigger lens over a native MFT one. All in all, a great experience.

So no crop factor on full frame lenses for the BMPCC4K or am I just understanding that wrong?

On Aps-c sensor I don't believe you will have any crop. However, in full frame you will. But there are so many advantages. I love my speed booster! Check out this video. It will pretty much answer your questions. https://youtu.be/aPIoVuerdcM

This adapter is for full-frame Canon EF-mount lenses. It may not work properly with EF-S lenses that cover an APS-C sensor and we do not recommend it.

What would the crop factor be on the BMPCC 4K when paired with the Metabones Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x?
Asked by: Yossi
The Pocket 4K has a 1.9x crop factor and this makes a lens 0.71x wider. If you have a 24mm full frame lens you would follow this formula: 24 x 0.71 = 17 x 1.9 = 32.3. So instead of a 24mm being around a 45mm on the Pocket 4K, it is now around a 32mm.

Hi, can I use this adapter and simple Canon to Nikon converter consecutively to use my Nikon lenses. ( I cannot reach Nikon to MFT speedbooster in my country and I only have Nikon lenses) Thanks
Asked by: zden
Thanks for your answers but there is a misunderstanding here. I have Nikon lenses and I want to use them with this adapter. I want to use it with an extra Nikon to Canon mount adapter consecutively. I mean: BMPCC4K+ SBCanon to MFT 0,71+ Canon to Nikon converter+Nikon lens Is that possible? I cannot reach Speed booster Nikon to MFT, that's why I' m trying to do that. Thanks
