To address the particular demands of hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts—especially those who glass across vast distances like the prairies of the American West—Celestron upgraded their venerable series of binoculars with extra-low-dispersion glass in the 10x50 Nature DX ED Binoculars. They deliver bright high-contrast images with accurate true-to-life color and crisp clarity even when observing from long distances.

To achieve this optical performance, these binoculars feature anti-reflection fully multi-coated extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass lenses with phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms. The apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to not only present an immersive observational experience to complement the impressive performance, but because it also helps to minimize the appearance of the distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics. Additional features like a long eye relief and wide exit pupils improve viewing comfort while reducing eyestrain, so long glassing sessions are more pleasurable.

Designed to stand up to a lifetime of outdoor use, the binoculars' chassis is made of a lightweight and durable polycarbonate that is also corrosion resistant to make it ideal for boaters. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature or environmental conditions. Celestron includes tethered front and rear lens caps to add an additional layer of protection in the field, with the ability to quickly react to glassing opportunities without fear of losing the caps. For those long days in your blind or in the field, or if you just want to eliminate arm fatigue or hand shake, the Nature DX ED binoculars can be tripod mounted using an optional adapter.

Optical Performance
  • High 10x magnification brings distant subjects in for close viewing and identification
  • Large 50mm objective lenses provide the light-gathering capacity required to keep views crisp and bright when viewing targets at extreme distances, and they keep views bright in challenging light conditions, such as at dawn and dusk
  • Compact roof prism design provides a slim form factor, despite the large objectives, without compromising performance
  • BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Phase-corrected prism coatings reduce internal interference to improve contrast, clarity, and resolution
  • Extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass lens elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations to produce views with true color rendition without fringing, halos, or distortion across the entire field of view
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated lenses maximize light transmission for bright and clear images with accurate color rendition
  • Apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to help minimize the appearance of distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics
  • 309-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Closed-bridge configuration offers a stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
  • Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate in cold or wet conditions, or when wearing gloves
  • ±3 right-eye diopter adjustment enables users to compensate for optical prescription for sharper focusing
  • Wide 56 to 74mm interpupillary adjustment range allows easy use by a wide variety of people
  • Twist-up click-stop eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use to eliminate vibrations and arm fatigue
  • Exceptional 17.8mm eye relief improves viewing comfort and reduces eyestrain during long glassing sessions
  • Wide 5mm exit pupil will completely cover pupils as they open and fully dilate in low light, ensuring the entire view remains visible
Construction Details
  • Light and durable polycarbonate chassis is resistant to the expansion and contraction that metal chassis are susceptible to and which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time, preventing the ability to achieve sharp focus
  • Exterior rubber armor with textured palm pads offers impact protection while providing a slip-resistant grip
  • Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving though extreme temperature and environmental conditions
  • Tethered flip-down objective lens caps and a one-piece ocular rainguard allow for fast reaction to glassing opportunities while keeping the caps out of the way and safe
  • Padded nylon canvas carrying case with a padded neck strap

Suffice

These are okay. Bright, clear image. A little heavy. Field of view is good. Still find myself wishing I could have gotten something better. BH service was excellent. If I do end up purchasing something better I will definitely purchase from them!

Disappointed

I have a pair of Celestron binoculars that I bought 32 years ago. I thought I would replace as the adjustable eye pieces used for glasses or not, were worn, and would not stay in place after all these years. The new ones are just about as loose as the 32 year old ones. I would hesitate buying another pair of Celestrons.

I purchased a pair of 10x50 Celestron Nature DX ...

I purchased a pair of 10x50 Celestron Nature DX ED binoculars and the Celestron Binocular Tripod Adapter. It is not obvious how to connect them, since each of these has a male 1/4-20 screw. There is not a female-to-female adapter to connect them, except for a very thin nut, which may or may not be 1/4-20 (it is very loose on the male threads). Is there a more detailed diagram showing how to mount the binoculars on the tripod adapter?
Asked by: David
I figured out the problem. The logo cap that is described in the manual is firmly attached to the binocular's female threaded screw. Thus, when I tried to remove the logo cap the female threaded screw was coming off with the logo cap. Once I was able to separate the logo cap from the female threaded screw (with quite a bit of effort), I was able to thread the screw back onto the binoculars, allowing the tripod mount to be attached. Unfortunately the manuals provided by Celestron don't show enough detail for the user to see what the female threaded screw should look like.
