Ambient Recording Soundfish 2 MkII Overview

The Ambient Recording ASF-2 MKII Hydrophone is an affordable, easy to use, great-sounding hydrophone. Designed with key components used in the renowned ASF-1 MKII, the ASF-2 MKII effectively utilizes the same professional hydrophone technology for outstanding underwater audio capture.

With a frequency range of 70 Hz to 20 kHz, the company designed a microphone able to capture a perfect spectrum of sounds while effectively avoiding low-frequency noise created by cable handling.

The housing is machined out of high-quality aluminum with an anodized exterior for protection against the corrosive nature of seawater, while the 33' polyurethane cable is cast into the housing for a water-tight seal. These design attributes enable the ASF-2 MKII Hydrophone to easily withstand the roughest field conditions. In addition to being an affordable hydrophone, the ground-breaking design of the ASF-2 MKII makes it affordable to operate as it is compatible with standard professional audio equipment.
Terminated with an XLR connector and powered by 48V phantom, this plug-and-play hydrophone is designed for use with today's professional field mixers and recorders for outstanding underwater recordings.

The Ambient Recording Soundfish ASF-2 MKII Compact Hydrophone has an omnidirectional polar pattern with a frequency response range of 70 Hz to 20 kHz, a total harmonic distortion rating of 0.1%, and the dimensions are 1.9 x 1.2 x 1.2" (47 x 30 x 30 mm). The ASF-2 MKII can be used for underwater applications up to 100' (30 m). The Ambient Recording Sound Fish ASF-1 MKII Hydrophone has an omnidirectional polar pattern with a wide frequency response range of 7 Hz to 40 kHz, a total harmonic distortion rating of 0.1%, and the dimensions are 6.9 x 1.0 x 1.0" (175 x 26 x 26 mm). The ASF-1 MKII can be used for underwater applications up to 328.1' (100 m). Physically, the ASF-1 MKII is a larger and longer microphone with a thicker cable than the AFS-2 MKII, and the AFS-1 MKII can be submerged to a much farther depth than the AFS-2 MKII. The AFS-1 MKII also has a much wider frequency response range than the AFS-2 MKII.

Is your Soundfish 2 MkII compatable with a Zoom H8 recording device?
Asked by: Chris
But I'm pretty sure that you have to set up the input channel up to 48+ phantom power for it to work, and then also for safety make sure any plug in power is plugged into an input that has phantom power plugged off, or use a Rode vXLR in the XLR input jack that will convert Phantom Power to plug in power.
