The FireworX is a multi-effects processor which includes, along with conventional effects like delay, panner/tremolo, chorus/flanger and pitcher, non conventional effects like vocoder, ring-modulator, synth and digital cruncher. The resulting effect processes are not conventional (although the box will do those just as well.)
Each of the effect blocks are configured as "stand-alone" boxes and can be controlled as such. The FireworX provides the possibility to route the effect blocks in any order in an 8x8 grid/matrix (until the limit of the DSP is reached.) Additionally, almost any of the effect parameters can be modified in the modifier section, using eight external controllers (MIDI) and ten internal modifiers such as LFOs, ADSR envelopes, and more.
The FireworX is equipped with 24-bit analog to digital and digital to analog converters, and aside from audio connectors, provides AES/EBU, S/PDIF, Toslink and ADAT digital input and output. The wealth of I/O options can be used in several unique ways. The ADAT interface allows for bringing in two tracks from an ADAT, and sending the processed tracks out to a different pair of ADAT tracks. Or, if one is using the analog I/O's, the digital I/O's can be used to simultaneously output the source audio from any place in the process chain, run it through a hardware processor, and return it to any place in the matrix. This version comes with the Wordclock input as standard.
