Blending a compact form factor with versatile performance, the Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC from Voigtlander is a fast wide-angle prime designed for M-mount rangefinder cameras. This updated, version II of the lens features a symmetrical optical design with one abnormal partial dispersion element, which retains the distinct character and high color accuracy rendering of the original, but also reduces curvature of field and astigmatism for improved focusing accuracy and more even sharpness across the entire image plane. This lens also features a multi-coating to suppress lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. Its manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 2.3' away and a 10-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality to suit working with shallow depth of field.

Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC Reviews
Exceptional performance
Been using it for a little over a year - it works fantastic on both my Leica M10 and Leica M6. 35mm isn't my favorite focal length (prefer 28mm or 50mm) - but I've grown to enjoy it now because of this lens. It's sharp, lightweight, smooth to operate for both the aperture and focusing rings. The bokeh is maybe not as creamy as a summilux / summicron, but it's fine. Edges of really bright highlights or lamps have a bit of a glow effect to them, but that might just be the multi-coating. It renders wonderfully on film regardless. This is a bargain for the performance that this lens brings. The only drawback is having to buy the hood separately, but even then - this is still an absolute steal.
Great pictures but poor build
I purchased this for my Leica CL on Dec 30, 2021. This was for my street photography hobby, not my production camera. I would use it roughly 2 times per month or for a picture around the house. Picture quality: Loved it. Nothing bad to say about the picture quality at all. Build quality: the lens feels well built. on January 27th 2023 I went to adjust the aperture and the ring was loose. The aperture ring fell off the tracks. It still worked with a little TLC while adjusting but the lens was never dropped or put in any luggage that could have banged it. After reading up on it, it turns out its pretty common. I purchased this in-store in NY on the recommendation of the employee in the camera department. (Purchased it with my Leica). He toted the build quality and was knowledgeable but unfortunately wasn't the case in this situation.
