Dedicated to the Sony Alpha 1, a7 IV, a7R IV, a7S III, and a9 II mirrorless cameras, this VG-C4EM Vertical Grip offers both extended battery and a more comfortable grip when shooting in the vertical orientation. The grip accepts either one or two NP-FZ100 batteries to increase the effective battery life for longer shooting sessions, and the batteries can be charged in the grip while attached to the camera via the body's USB port. The grip's design maintains the same layout as the camera body itself, and includes a secondary shutter button and Multi-Selector for intuitive use. The grip is built from magnesium alloy and is dust and moisture resistant to match the weather-sealing of the camera itself.

Sony VG-C4EM Reviews
Necessary for Extended Shoots!
I like the grip. It is nothing exceptional but necessary. However, I do find that Sony batteries last a long time for me - I can get 1000 or so shots on one battery. But with the kind of photography I do you never know when you may need longer power. The only thing that irks me is the price - but as a Sony shooter, I should be used to high prices on equipment.
Love the extra battery life
About to head on a European tour, and was looking for a way to increase battery life to handle a dull day of shooting. Really impressed with the build quality, and while I have only taken it on a few weekend excursions, it has met my battery expectations. Bonuses are the side grip controls for portrait shooting...nice feel to the controls. And really appreciate that you can lock out the shutter controls on the side grip to prevent inadvertent activation.
Pricey but Good..........
There are knockoffs but I paid for the OEM version cause' it fits and it works as I expect it to. B&H packed it well, and shipped and delivered promptly. Easy to give 5 stars.
Probably need to replace
While in the vertical position the shutter button does not focus. In that position, focus can only be done using back button focus. Sony Pro Support says not serviceable. I have lived with the issue but not sure if it is designed to work this way, so another one may perform differently.
did not know how usefull it is
This grip is awesome. obviusly the extra power but it was a pleasant surprise the extra seccurity of the grip. it feels stronger and more secure. Totaly recomend.
Perfect fit, perfect function...
...which is what I've come to expect from Sony. I'm using this on an A7 IV, and like the grip for the A7 RIII, all the controls feel and function just like the controls on the camera. If you shoot in cold weather (I do), and shoot a fair amount of verticals (I do), then this is a must-have.
worth to buy
very good
Comfortable and functional!
After shooting a full day with the battery grip, I was super stoked to have double the battery life. In my experience, it was ergonomic, functional, well-designed (I really liked having access to so many controls in landscape and portrait). Great part to add on to the kit.
