Levenhuk Skyline BASE Overview

  • 1Description
  • 2Optical Tube Assembly
  • 3Mount and Tripod
  • 4Included Accessories

Designed to introduce you or a loved one to astronomy, the Levenhuk Skyline BASE 50T 50mm f/12 Refractor AZ Telescope provides a complete setup for viewing the moon, planets, and constellations, with the ability to turn the scope earthward and use it as a conventional spotting scope.

As a complete observation rig, in addition to the optical tube and tripod, you get three eyepieces that provide a range of magnifications from a low of 30x to a high of 150x with a 3x Barlow lens that triples the magnification of each eyepiece for a wider range of observing options. The included 90° star diagonal makes looking through the scope more comfortable, especially when aiming the telescope straight up. To make viewing through the scope more comfortable when using it as a regular spotting scope, Levenhuk also provides a 1.5x erecting eyepiece that you use with any of the three other eyepieces to bring your subjects up close at any range.

Optical Tube Assembly

  • 50mm objective lens is ideal for basic astronomic and earthbound observations
  • 600mm focal length provides a moderate magnification potential
  • Refractor-style design is durable and requires very little maintenance or later recollimation by the user
  • Anti-reflection fully coated optics improve light transmission, color rendition, sharpness, and contrast
  • 0.965" rack-and-pinion focuser

Mount and Tripod

  • Simple and uncomplicated manual alt-azimuth mount
  • 2-Stage aluminum tripod with an adjustable height from 27.2" to 46.9" can accommodate a wide variety of users and viewing positions
  • Center accessory tray holds gear such as eyepieces, filters, and phones for easy access

Included Accessories

Eyepieces:
  • 20mm eyepiece yields a low 30x magnification, ideal for wide-field observation of the moon and constellations
  • 12.5mm eyepiece produces moderate 48x power to get detailed views of lunar features and to see planets like Jupiter and its moons and Saturn with its rings
  • 4mm eyepiece yields a high magnification of 150x which is geared more for earthly views
Erecting Eyepiece:
  • Corrects view horizontally and vertically so the scope can by used as a conventional spotting scope
  • Use with any of the included regular eyepieces to make earthbound observations
  • Increases the power slightly by 1.5x
Barlow Lens:
  • 3x lens triples the power of any eyepiece used in it without affecting eye relief, making it an essential accessory for the 4mm and 12.5mm eyepieces
  • Can be stacked with other accessories like the erecting eyepiece and diagonal
Diagonal:
90° angle provides a comfortable viewing position, especially when the scope is pointed directly overhead, regardless of whether the user is standing or sitting
Finderscope:
  • Low 5x power presents a wide field of view for easier alignment and faster star-hopping navigation
  • 24mm objective is able to resolve most prominent stars and planets without adding excessive bulk or weight to the optical tube
  • Mounting bracket included
