Photographers looking for a beautifully designed tripod with a great strength to size and weight ratio will appreciate the Aluminum Travel Tripod from Peak Design. Architecturally inspired, and weighing only 3.4 lb, this innovative tripod reduces folded volume thanks to legs that store closer together than traditional tripods. When folded, the tripod is roughly as thick as a water bottle. Boasting impressive specs, the tripod height adjusts from 5.5 to 60", folds down to only 15.5", holds up to 20 lb, and is constructed from aluminum. For fast deployment, the five-section aluminum leg cams can be released at the same time. Ground-level shots are quickly captured by simply reversing the center column.

Has anyone used this tripod and the adapter with a fluid head? If so, is the tripod stable enough to shoot action sports video?
The tripod can hold plenty of weight on its on own, so you can use the Universal Head Adapter and a fluid head with a flat base on it. We recommend using a leveling base in addition to the fluid head of your choice to take into account any uneven surfaces. One such base is the Oben LH-2510 Leveling Base Head, BH # OBLH2510.

Is there a tension adjustment for the ball head?
Is there a tension adjustment for the ball head?
There is a ring below the mounting plate that you can use to adjust how tight or loose you want it to be, and you can squeeze it down pretty tight but I wouldn't recommend that. You should follow the manufacturer guidelines the max weight of the equipment it can hold.

is this tripod suitable for the Nikon Z8 with 180-600 lens?
Yes, you can use the Z8 with Nikon's 180-600mm. However I would recommend a sturdy tripod. The Nikon 180-600 is a larger lens that would benefit from a more robust tripod.
