Great

Overpriced rolling base

For $100, you'd expect this dolly to perform better, but in the end it's just a basic base with castor wheels you can probably build yourself or buy something similar for less. I wanted to see if the thin grey padding was removeable to wash, but instead I accidentally pried open a pad that was simply hot-glued onto the dolly base. It immediately cheapened the product in my eyes. The castors have no levers to lock a single wheel in place, and Yamaha's solution to this was to provide a small rubber stopper with two holes for you to place the entire unit on top of it with two wheels in the holes. Thankfully, there are four snap closures to secure the system's bag to the dolly, but they are made of canvas and plastic and I hope they will last. The Yamaha Stagepas 1K PA system is much heavier than others I'd looked into at over 50 lbs. Once you break everything down, set the speaker columns into the bag along with cables and anything else you want to store, place the covered system with bag onto the dolly, you now have nearly 60 lbs. of weight to roll and then lift into your vehicle. I am a petite 5'-2 female, so this unit is too heavy for me to use on a daily basis, but I don't mind using it once a week or monthly for gigs. It is very nice to have the dolly, but I wish it came with the PA system instead of sold separately for an additional price. While the dolly is useful and the wheels roll smoothly, it is well overpriced for its purpose.

$20 too expensive, but worth $20 of my time

I didn't want to spend $100 on this. I figured I'd make my own. But then I got realistic and figured the casters and sheet of decent project ply would set me back $40. Then there's cutting the padding to line it, the glue-up. So I went ahead and bought it. First, it's a bit heavier than expected. I suspect the base material is substantial. Second, the casters are really good. Not Harbor Freight stuff. It includes an anti-roll parking pad because this thing rolls with the slightest touch. Lastly, the cover that comes with the Stagepas is very very good. QSC charges $70-80 for their bags. I think it's similar quality. So completing the system with the dolly just makes sense. In conclusion, you won't like paying for it at the time. When you get it you'll shrug and say, Typical Yamaha quality. You pay a slight premium, but you don't feel ripped off. Roland and Yamaha always make good stuff. Can't go wrong. 5 stars for the product. -1 for price.
