Think Tank Photo Advantage XT Overview

The black Airport Advantage XT from Think Tank is an extra-high-capacity rolling camera case that is designed to meet the carry-on requirements for most international and US airlines while minimizing weight. The large main compartment and its 17 adjustable dividers can hold eight to ten lenses, flashes, accessories, and up to two gripped DSLR camera bodies. Users of mirrorless camera systems can fit at least the same number of lenses along with a camera, plus a flash and back-up camera.

On the exterior of the rolling case is a stretchable pocket that is partitioned for a 10" tablet computer and 17" laptop within a protective sleeve. A large flap with touch-tab closure covers the stretchable pocket, while a tripod pocket and accessory straps allow camera supports to be conveniently strapped to the side.

Aside from being able to comfortably hold photo gear plus a laptop and tablet, the interior of the main compartment lid features two, zippered mesh organizer pockets for easy storage of pens, business cards, as well as small electronics. Four handles are included for flexibility while transporting or moving the rolling case, and an extra-long four-stage telescoping top handle, a non-telescoping top handle, and both a side handle plus a foot stand with an integrated handle all make it easier to pick up and place the Airport Advantage XT into airplane overhead bins or into car trunks.

For security, the main compartment's two adjoining zipper pull tabs feature shackle holes. During travel, a separately available TSA-accepted lock can be used to secure the two pull tabs together, preventing their sliders from being able to open the zipper chain, keeping items within the Airport Advantage XT secure.

Nylon construction throughout the rolling case and a polyurethane-coated underside provide a high degree of weather resistance and overall durability, which is further complemented by wheel housings that help protect the corners of the Airport Advantage XT from impacts to escalators and curbs. A seam-sealed rain cover is included for even more protection from the elements should the need arise, and if they wear out over time, the wheels, wheel housings, foot stand, and telescoping top handle are user-replaceable.

Think Tank Photo Advantage XT Reviews

Well built rolling camera case

I do not fly that much but wanted a large enough rolling camera case. The Think Tank Photo Airport Advantage XT is very well built and lightweight. It fits my need very well. I really like the fact that it has excellent replaceable wheels. The telescopic handle is sturdy and just the right length for me. I wish it came with pads that would fill in the depressions caused by having a telescoping handle. This would give me a flat bottom. I am happy with my purchase, you get what you pay for.

Excellent design and quality. Plenty of padded dividers to customize your own gear. Handles on two sides plus the bottom rest stop can be used as a handle as well. Comes with a pull out handle that when recessed, there is a ripper to hide it and a rain cover is provided as well.

Excellent Photo Roller bag

There was more room in it than I had expected and the padding and dividers met or exceeded my expectations. I also liked how the bag when empty did not weigh that much. This is excellent value for money spent.

Very Functional

I've taken 7 trips now with this case. Compartments lay out well. Able to take camera body, 100-400 zoom, 85mm, 50mm, 18-35 zoom, 10-24 zoom, 24-105 zoom. Cables, batteries and filters. The best part is I'm not humping it on my back. If you have a thin MAC laptop that would fit as well. I have a beefy HP so no go for me but, I need to carry drives and interfaces so need the second bag anyway. Cheers!

Great Quality Travel Photo Bag

Well made and well designed. Perfect for my needs: fits three Nikon D750's, two gripped, with lenses attached (70-200VR/2.8 & 24-70VR), one, body only; three SB910 speedlights, two additional lenses; two Gary Fong flash domes/diffusers; and plenty of room left for camera & flash batteries and chargers. Only downside is the cost.

This work horse has gone everywhere with us; from the streets of NYC and Philly to sandy/dirt of South Jersey, this case carries everything we need for on location sessions! (Maybe more than we need)

Will this bag fit in the overhead bins of the 50 seater regional jets? CRJ200's?
Asked by: Ryan
No. Frequently on CRJ-200's and the overhead bins are tiny, all rollers this size will be gate checked. I use Think Tank's Vision 15 shoulder bag for these trips and it barely fits when fully loaded with gear. This bag might be OK on the larger CRJ-900s but even then its questionable.

How rigid are the sides of the bag? is it just soft bendable padded fabric or did they add some sort of rigidity to protect the sides?
Asked by: John
The Think Tank Photo Airport Advantage XT (Black) is rigid in that it will keep form. But is not like a hard case. It is not meant to go under a plane in cargo.
