It didn't work, and now I have to waste my time with a warranty return and sending it back. Word to the wise, just get these batteries locally so you don't have to jump through all the hoops to get your money back when it doesn't work. Luckily the GoPro Hero5 still works with the original battery, but not for long because it doesn't hold a charge for long anymore.

Go with the related batteries for the gear you buy

Was so tired of buying aftermarket batteries and then them coming in at 70% when fully charged. I am trying this out and hoping it works better.

Can i use the older charger for this or do i need a new one special for the hero8?

The both chargers work. But, do not put the new battery in any pre-Hero 8 camera until you upgrade the software on any older model. Refer to GoPro for the upgrade.

what is difference between this #AJBAT-001 and the #AABAT-001 if used for Hero 7?

The GoPro battery with with the blue bottom side (MFR #AJBAT-001) is a later release of the battery design. This model will be compatible with the GoPro Hero 8, where as the other model (MFR #AABAT-001) will not. You will not notice much of a difference using either one with the GoPro Hero 7.

Whats different from the 7 battery?

With the release of the Hero 8, GoPro has produced a new battery model for compatibility of Hero models between 6-8. The capacity of this model to MFR #AABAT-001 is the same 1220 mAh and both are compatible for the Hero 7.
