f-stop Shallow ICU Reviews

Perfect fit for my Shimoda

I bought this for my Shimoda Explore v2 25L and it fits perfectly. I feel my gear is more protected with the thicker dividers and it seems I can fit a bit more in the bag using this core unit instead Shimoda's small mirrorless core unit.

Nice size

For when a small ICU is just too small. I like the depth of this shallow ICU for a mirrorless kit. It's the perfect depth for the gear, plus is shallow enough to fit in some of the slimmer day packs (ones that don't look like I'm a camper walking through the city). Plenty of room for my Nikon Z6 and a few lenses.

Well Made.

Works well with the F-stop backpack. Compartments are great and sturdy. Took the padding out of lid so lid folds back underneath seamlessly without taking up extra space. The padded lid is great if you don't plan to use it in the backpack. Fits Nikon SLR with 24-70 f2.8 mm lens and lens cap. Nikon 80-400 mm lens, filters and Nikon 16-50 mm lens and still has room for some small accessories.

Functional, but the Price...

It's a completely functional insert. No thrills, no surprises. Dividers work well and the padding is a good thickness. Has attachment points to integrate it into a pack, or carry it by itself with the addition of a strap (not included). For the price though, it's a bit of a disappointment. I got this because I have an fstop pack and plan on getting another and will use this for both, but I feel like they 'got me' with the price of this insert.

I do own Large Pro ICU and decided to get also Shallow Medium I use it with my F-stop Loka UL Pack when I want more space for other things. I also decided to order this one in case I want to use as my backpacking ICU with 82l Backpack and i don't want to cary just one big backpack. So this one gives me much better option to play without filling all the space like Large Pro ICU does

Fits in back

I like that my back pack does not obviously look like I am carrying camera gear. The f-stop Shallow ICU fits nicely inside my every day back pack, while simmultaneously providing the purpose-built features that I need for a day's work. Very well made and easy to use.
