f-stop Loka UL Reviews

Almost great...

I have what appears to be a prev version of this (black only) and has been my go to carry bag for many years now. I use it for work travel without any inserts (laptop, cloths etc). I have the small and med inserts so I can have one or the other or both if it's only photo stuff. + Comfort - feels more like a real backpack and I use it like that a lot. + Flexibility with the pair of cells - the small + med are 40/60 for space (med has a taper so it can fit in the top of bag) but small & bottom half of med easily fit a gripped full frame. + Top opener - seems like a small thing but there is some space about insert for stuff you always take on a plane. + Front zipper - To get to main compartment, you open on the padded area that is on your back but it still has zipped on the back (for the camelback if you use it) and on the top, so there is a stealth thing going on for the main camera gear that I appreciate. - The inserts are fiddly to put in and they really need more than two tab support - extra tabs & lugs so each insert had 4 would be far better. - With the bottom insert in there stuff rests on and falls behind - a velcro held divider would be great to help with smaller stuff failing to back and on the weight on the lower insert. I took to using the med insert in top of bag and other stuff in bottom. - EXPENSIVE when you get the inserts (although it's cheaper now than when I bought so maybe it's more realistic now).

a bit overpriced

especially when you add the ICU and suffer from some old design but does the job and it's the only one with measures that allow max space for camera, some for other stuff and it's carry on. Shimoda are too smnall or too big and Atlas are the best but very expensive so, at the end, it was the best compromise.

Great Pack

I had an F-Stop pack some years ago, I think a now-discontinued model, but it got stolen out of my car - luckily empty. Anyway, like I remember with the previous one, the Loka is well designed and well made. It's comfortable and has plenty of space for my needs. Light weight too, but remember you gotta get an ICU in there and, depending on which one you get, it can double the weight. Would like a selection of colors - preferring something that blends in a bit more with the environment - but that's not a big deal to me. I'm pleased with the purchase.

Surprisingly big

I don't think it feels small when used by men. Necessary and sufficient if not full-scale

Great Backpack

Great Backpack, almost perfect. Very comfortable. Carried my Nikon Z6ii, 24-70 f4, 14-30 f4 for 6 days - 10 hours a day and it was very comfortable. Traveled with those lenses, plus a Sigma Sport 70-200 and other small accessories, cords, batteries, etc . Kind of snug, might order a large ICU, fits under a Southwest plane seat. Only 4 stars because, I think it's a little overpriced and not sure of the long term quality, zippers feel kind of cheap.

Good lightweight backpack for travel. I have just taken it for a week away on domestic flights and had no issues.

F-stop gives this bag a torso length of 13.5, my C7-illiac crest torso length measurement is 17.5-18 inches. And hiking medium backpacks have torso lengths of 16-17, I have have to wonder if this LOKA will fit me at 5-9 height and for hikes of 6-9 hours in length. In the f-stop photos, it looks like the hip belt rides above rather than at the level of (over) the illac (hip) bones. So will this bag fit and be comfortable with 15-18 pounds of gear?
Asked by: Gregory
The f-stop Loka UL Backpack (Black/Blue, 37L) would be a good backpack for hiking usage needs, and as it is adjustable, it may work for your planned usage. However, as every individual is different, do note that the f-stop Loka UL Backpack (Black/Blue, 37L) may be returned within 30 days of the delivery date for a refund or exchange. As such, that should give you enough time to load the bag and test its fit on your body. If you are not happy with its performance, you may return it for an exchange or refund.

I have this bag. Can you recommend another way to carry my Sigma Sport 70-200 inside. It's too tight in the Medium Slope ICU and I don't want to buy a Large ICU?
Asked by: Nancy
You could fit a Sigma 70-200mm Sport Lens in the Medium Slope ICU. It would be just a matter of removing some of the smaller dividers.
