Mackie PROFX6V3 Overview

The Mackie ProFX6v3 is a 6-channel mixing console featuring two Onyx microphone preamps with 60 dB of headroom and a built-in effects engine with 24 built-in FX, making it well suited for live sound, home recording, and content creators. The integrated 2x4 USB audio interface offers high-quality 24-bit / 192 kHz recording and playback with zero-latency monitoring.

Channels 1-2 offer combo XLR-1/4" mic/line connections and feature Hi-Z (for guitar and bass), low-cut filters (100 Hz), gain controls, 2-band EQ, stereo linking, level faders, and FX send. I use this mixer to collaborate online with other musicians and also use for better audio quality during online conferencing (e.g. ZOOM). Love that the mic preamp inputs become electric guitar or bass guitar inputs with push of a button (Hi-Z). Only critique is that some of the built-in effects are just so-so, but I didn't buy this to use these.

Works great, with great features.

Love this mixer. Aside from only xlr and 1//4 inch outs, it's a real powerful tool. Absolutely love the mini-stereo jack input. And the usb connection automatically was recognized as an audio source in Wirecast Pro. Not a big fx guy, but it's super easy to use that feature and play around with those sounds.

Oynx Pres

I bought this mostly for the preamps and was not disappointed in the Onyx pres. It is solidly built, and does what I need it to. I wish it had compression, but at this price point it is still a great deal. The signal out is very clean, and setup was a breeze. The digital effects are not pro quality, but I suppose some folks can use them.

Great Little Mixer, But...

This is an excellent value in a small mixer. The mic preamps are quiet and sound great. It's well built, easy to pack and inexpensive. My only serious problem is the lack of traditional pan controls. At a minimum I would like to see pan controls on channels 1 and 2. The all-or-nothing L/R pan switch is not flexible enough. I like the small size of this mixer, but wish I had bought the ProFX10 instead. Not because I need 10 channels for the work I'm doing, but simply to get pan controls.

In spite of following Mackie's directions on installing and using the Windows 10 driver, I could not play audio through the ProFX6v3 mixer. Has anyone had success using Windows 10? If so, how? (It worked however with OS 10.11.6).

If I have to run a long 100ft xlr cable from this ...

If I have to run a long 100ft xlr cable from this mixer to my speaker (Behringer b115d) and I want my 2nd speaker maybe 20 feet apart, do I need another 100ft cable running from the 2nd main xlr output, or do I just run a shorter xlr cable from the back/output of the first speaker to input the 2nd? Not sure what the downside of this method is (if any).
Asked by: Jamie
If you are running just microphones or other mono sources, a single 100' run and then linking to the second speaker with a shorter cable is fine. However, if you are playing music in stereo, you will want to take a run from the mixer to each of the two speakers.

Will the USB interface with Apple iPad or Mac? What are the requirements?
Asked by: Charles
Yes, the Mackie ProFX6v3 can be connected to a Mac and iPad. You may just need to use an adapter like the Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter (B&H # APMLUCADP) to convert the USB Type-A connector to Lightning for compatibility with the iPad.
