Designed to fit in the palm of your hand, the C1 Plus is a smartphone studio light that delivers beautiful light on the go and creates professional images with a simple click. Point-and-shoot with automatic exposure and flash power based on the surrounding conditions, and switch between natural and dramatic images with a swipe of your finger. For those who would like more control and freedom over power, exposure, and color temperature, the C1 may be used in manual mode.
The Profoto C1 Plus was built with a round shape that creates soft light falloff. Thanks to its wide range of colors, you'll be able to match a wide variety of lighting conditions, ranging from dusk to dawn. To help keep your images looking natural, built-in reflectors and a dome diffuser create organic shadows.
The Profoto C1 Plus is compatible with light-shaping tools such as color gels, grids, and domes, which provide a wide range of creative possibilities. The light-shaping tools snap on and off quickly with the C1 Plus' magnetic mount. Use it hand-held to easily play around and explore different angles by simply moving the C1 Plus around or put it on a stand or arm with the built-in thread mount. You can even use several lights together. Since C1 Plus is also compatible with Profoto AirTTL Remotes, you can bring it along if shooting with a classic camera.
The Profoto C1 Plus is compatible with the iPhone 7 and later. Its integrated 1500mAh lithium-ion polymer battery lasts for around 2000 full-power flashes or 40 minutes of continuous light at full power. Once depleted, it can be recharged in two hours using the included USB Type-C to Type-A cable.

Profoto C1 PLUS Reviews
Worth $99 during the sale
At 300, this is totally overpriced. However, bought during the $99 sale, this is an awesome little light to throw in your everyday bag. Perfect companion to a small camera like a Fuji when combined with the little Profoto Connect trigger, which I already had. Great for adding light to nighttime personal photos of friends when I'm out. Also, the smartphone connection does allow some pretty impressive photos in low light out of an iPhone and in find the trigger button on the C1 plus to be very helpful.
Outstanding Flash for my iPhone
A great hand held flash or continuous light for my iPhone. Highest quality that I have found to wireless connect to my iPhone.
Requires their app to sync, doesn't work with iPhone camera
I was disappointed to find this does NOT work as a synchronized flash with the native camera app on iPhone. You can set it to CONTINUOUS ON mode (with the light on all the time) and shoot using the iPhone camera app, but that's the only way you can use it so as to get the full-features of your iPhone camera. For a synchronized flash, the C1 Plus off-camera iPhone flash requires use of the Profoto Camera app, which despite it's bombastic claim of being the best professional camera, is very limited in functionality. For example: ~ No portrait mode; which is to say, no clear way to blur the background. (Since there is no aperture control available for the iPhone, changing the shutter speed doesn't do it.) Pretty poor for an off-camera flash photo app designed to pop a fairly close subject off the background! ~ NO OPTICAL ZOOM and very limited DIGITAL ZOOM; you can pinch to zoom, a little, but that's about it. Want wide angle, you're out of luck. Just got it and need to test it more to see if it's useful despite it's limitations. If not, I'll be testing B and H's return policy.
Fun toy, not powerful enough to be of real use
I had lots of fun with it after unpacking, but after some tests concluded its not going to be very useful for working photographer. I might still use it occasionally as a supplementary light source from short distance but it is not powerful enough to diffuse it in any way and still get a decent light intensity. Fun little toy but that's about it.
Does not work with B1X and A1
I was going to shoot some images with my iPhone 12 pro Max on the side. And I was expecting that it would work with my B1X and A1. But C1 does not work with those guys. And I called Profoto, as I expected, I did not get proper guys to ask question.
Very happy with this OCF for mobile devices
This easy to use off camera flash makes cell phone photos significantly more impressive. It is very easy to use. The constant-on feature (with compatible color gels) is terrific for videos too.
Great versatility dedicated flash and constant light
This addition to Profoto system works great when a little fill or small flash is needed. Integrates with my other Profoto units no problems.
Great for its intended use
This is a super small light, perfect for travel. It works perfectly with my smartphone through the Profoto Camera app. It all works via Bluetooth and I can shoot in full manual control or full TTL with flash exposure compensation. The key to using these lights successfully is to place them within 2 feet or so of your subject. Do not think you can use these with any sort of umbrella or softbox modifier. The modifier will eat up all the light output. The included magnetic diffusion dome does a good job of softening the light. One other thing to understand is that these are bi-color LED lights. That is both a strength and a weakness. The strength is that they are fully adjustable for color temperature and the modeling light will change as you raise and lower it. The weakness is an all LED light is that it is not a xenon bulb strobe. This means you can't use this light to trigger a larger optical slave light if you are home and want more light. You can set this off at full power right in front of the optical sensor and the slave won't trigger. As long as you use these for their intended purpose as a small, pocketable travel companion for your smartphone photography they work great and are vastly superior to the phone's built in flash.
