Denon DN-300R MKII Overview

The Denon DN-300R MKII is a rack-mountable audio recorder and playback device designed for installed sound applications in houses of worship, music clubs, and more. It can record to SDHC/SDXC cards and USB media, either one at a time or simultaneously to both, making it ideal for capturing conferences or concerts where the client needs a copy of the recording immediately after the event.

The DN-300R MKII features balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA I/O for connecting its input to an external audio source and its output to powered speakers or a sound system. The DN-300R MKII records WAV files at up to 24-bit / 48 kHz and MP3 files at up to 256 kb/s.

Multiple record options are available including mono, stereo, dual mono, and dual stereo. In dual-mono and dual-stereo modes, two audio files are created with the second one recorded at -10 dB to help protect your recording against accidental clipping. Recording can be started manually or automatically when the input level passes a certain threshold.

Various playback options enable you to play just a single track or all tracks in a folder or on the device, in repeat or random playback modes. A headphone output with independent volume control allows you to monitor quietly while recording or playing back.

Did someone try to record live TV from TV audio OUT or from radio tuner OUT (white/red output)?
Asked by: Tomasz
It is possible to record audio from the RCA audio outputs (white/red or black/red) of a TV or radio by connecting them to the RCA inputs on the Denon DN-300R MKII. There is an LED display to show the signal levels coming from the inputs and an input level control which allows you to adjust the levels up or down.

can you hook up a sshd to the usb?
Asked by: david
I have the MkI. I recommend using only USB 3.0 sticks with the recorder. I tried using my computer's external USB 3.0 drive with the 300R and the recorder wouldn't recognize it. You MIGHT have better luck using something with a dedicated power supply, but I wouldn't chance it. At least if a USB stick doesn't work, for some reason, you haven't blown a ton of money in the process.

I have an external microphone that has a usb plug on it. Will this type of microphone work with this recorder?
Asked by: Matthew
If you want to record to the DN-300R with a mic, you'll have to connect the mic to some kind of pre-amp first, something that will deliver a "line-level" signal to the recorder's XLR or RCA jacks. I've never used a USB mic before, so I don't know whether there are pre-amps with the appropriate USB inputs or not.
