At which point does the WD_BLACK D10 fan turn on? Does the fan blow air OUT of the enclosure? Or does the fan suck air INTO the enclosure?
Asked by: Roger
The fan on the WD 8TB WD_BLACK D10 Game Drive BH #WEBA3P0080HB will kick in as soon as it reaches a temperature where it will need to cool down. The fan is an intake fan.

WD 8TB Black Drive 10D - Questions for B&H staff ...

WD 8TB Black Drive 10D - Questions for B&H staff or Mfg... Is the drive inside an enterprise class? Is it really 7200RPM? Can you put a different data cable with it to go type C into the computer? Will that gain any speed? Can I reformat to NTFS to use with a Windows machine for video editing and still have the same performance?
Asked by: Allison
It's definitely 7200 RPM. The 8 TB drive inside mine is a WD Ultrastar DC HC320 model # HUS728T8TALE6L4 —the WD site has the spec sheet. Mine has been great—it's pretty new and the only odd thing is that DriveDX is reporting some S.M.A.R.T. concerns in terms of Throughput Performance, Spin Up Time, and Seek Time Performance. But I like it enough that I ordered another, and plan to post on the WD site regarding those issues. I get about 150 MB/s write and 215 MB/s read speeds, with the drive 65% full.
