32.5MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
Featuring an impressively high-resolution 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor, the EOS M6 Mark II is capable of producing imagery with notable clarity and dynamic range, as well as a broad sensitivity range of ISO 100-25600 and low noise to support working in difficult lighting situations. The sensor and image processor also realize fast performance throughout the camera system, including the ability to shoot continuously at up to 14 fps with AF/AE tracking, record UHD 4K30p video, or record high-speed Full HD 1080p video at 120 fps.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF Systems
The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system features 5481 selectable autofocus points for refined accuracy across nearly the entire image plane and also supports Eye AF Servo for exacting focus accuracy on portrait subjects. This focusing system offers smooth and fast focusing performance in a similar manner to how a camcorder acquires focus. Dual Pixel CMOS AF integrates two separate photodiodes within each pixel to provide a broad and dense network of phase-detection gathering elements across a majority of the image sensor to reduce focus hunting for faster, more direct control of focus placement. When working with still imagery, this focusing system works to acquire focus quickly and accurately, making it ideally suited to shooting and tracking moving subjects so that critical focus is attained with each shot. When shooting video, a Movie Servo AF mode offers smooth and natural focusing when changing from different subjects or different distances within the scene, as well as the ability to specify tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and Face Tracking priority. Benefited by the Touch AF system, rack focus is possible simply by touching elements within the scene on the touchscreen in order to change focus in an intuitive manner. Subject tracking in movies is also heightened due to the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system's ability to recognize subjects and maintain focus when working within changing or cluttered scenery.
Body Design and Wireless Connectivity
  • Large 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD provides an intuitive method for controlling focusing points, navigating menus, and reviewing imagery. This screen also features a tilting design (180° upward, 45° downward) to better enable working from high and low angles.
  • Compatible with optional shoe-mounted EVF-DC2 auxiliary electronic viewfinder for clear, high-resolution eye-level viewing.
  • LP-E17 battery provides approximately 305 shots per charge or up to approximately 410 shots per charge when working in Eco mode.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi allows for easy wireless sharing of both photos and movies to a linked mobile device and Bluetooth connectivity permits linking a smartphone or tablet for quick image sharing between devices as well as remote control capabilities when using the Canon Camera Connect app. This app also enables a mobile raw editing workflow for greater post-production freedom.
Other Camera Features
  • Raw Burst Mode offers a quick 30-fps shooting rate with pre-shooting to ensure capturing even the fastest moments.
  • Touch & Drag AF is supported when working with the EVF-DC2 for intuitive adjustment over the focus point when looking through the EVF.
  • Electronic shutter function permits working with shutter speeds up to 1/16000 of a second.
Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens (Graphite)

A standard zoom covering wide-angle to short telephoto perspectives, the graphite EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens from Canon offers a 24-72mm equivalent focal length range when used with APS-C-format EOS M-series mirrorless cameras. The optical design incorporates three aspherical elements, one of which is glass-molded and the other two are precision molded, in order to control chromatic aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range. The lens placement has also been optimized, and coatings have been applied, to reduce flare and ghosting for increased contrast and clarity when photographing in difficult lighting conditions.

Benefitting handheld shooting with slower shutter speeds, an Optical Image Stabilizer has been incorporated into the lens design to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 stops. A lead-screw-type STM stepping motor is also featured, which produces fast, smooth and near-silent autofocus performance to support both stills and video applications. For increased control, full-time manual focus operation is also available for making fine-tuned focus adjustments. Additionally, pairing well with the compact form factor of the EOS M-series of cameras, this lens also features a retracting design to shorten its overall length to just 1.75" long during travel and storage.

Standard wide-to-short tele zoom lens for EF-M mount APS-C format mirrorless cameras provides a 24-72mm equivalent focal length range.
One glass-molded (GMo) aspherical element and two precision-molded (PMo) aspherical elements are featured in the optical design, and help to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions for greater sharpness and clarity.
Optimized lens placement and coatings help to control lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality.
Optical Image Stabilizer technology compensates for up to 3.5 stops of camera shake to better enable taking sharp handheld photos in difficult lighting conditions.
Lead-screw-type STM stepping motor offers fast, quiet, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for video recording as well as still shooting.
Full-time manual focus mode (AF+MF) lets you instantly switch to manual focus control in AF mode for making fine-tuned adjustments.
Canon EVF-DC2 Electronic Viewfinder (Black)

Offering the ability to shoot at eye-level with cameras lacking a built-in viewfinder, the black EVF-DC2 Electronic Viewfinder from Canon is an external Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) for select EOS M-series and PowerShot cameras. This auxiliary finder attaches to the camera via its hot shoe and features a 0.39" 2.36m-dot OLED display for clear, high-resolution viewing. Additionally, the viewfinder offers built-in dioptric adjustment and has a 22mm eyepoint distance to suit eyeglass-wearers.

Canon M6 Mark II Reviews

Great Little Camera

I'm very happy with this camera! Since I received it my other cameras sit collecting dust. If only it was weather sealed. I would also have liked a manual to have been provided so as to know what the setting s were actually doing because I'm not familiar with all of them. I enjoy this camera so much I've considered buying another for a backup.

Great compact camera!

I bought this camera mainly for photography but got one of the best small, lightweight cameras for video as a bonus. With the Viltrox EF-EOS Lens Mount Adapter I was able to use a 55-250 mm lens for telephoto shots. The high pixel rate is especially impressive when you have to crop in close like in wildlife photography. I appreciate the compact size and light weight of this camera because I take it out with me on long hikes into some pretty roughed and untamed Florida wilderness.

Great small form factor camera

I enjoy taking photos of birds- have a Canon 7D mark 11 with a sigma 150-600 lens. Very heavy! Used the M6 with lens adapter and got even better pictures. However, I'd rate the M6 five star if it had longer prime 400 or zoom lenses, and built in EVF like the M50. Also the video button is to easy to accidentally press. Maybe there is a way to disable it - still learning all the controls. But this is an awesome camera.

So far so good

My first foray into the mirrorless world after 30+ years of film and digital SLRs. I like the small size and light weight, but unfortunately I'm finding the controls a bit fumbly. It'll take some time I suppose. Camera feels solid with the exception of the battery/card door. Image quality is fine, even with the kit lens. EVF is bright and sharp, but you have to have a Rube Goldberg contraption to use it with a speedlight. So, a bit of a mixed bag, but mostly good.

Compact & super high detailed pictures and good video

By Josh
Rated 5 out of 5
Date: 2022-07-05

Compact & super high detailed pictures and good 4k video. M sized lenses typically don't have image stabilization so a gimbal mount is a must for any videos requiring movement. No built in viewfinder but for some that's good because it helps keep it compact in size and pocketable. Screen is very detailed, moves up and down, and touch sensitive which is a big bonus. To utilize the 32mp, get the Canon prime 32mm, 22mm, or anything with f2.0 or more with f1.4 being ideal. The prime 22mm is perfect and compact for 90% of shooting most would do and it's the only lens that still allows this to go into a pocket. Beautiful photos without any editing.

Perfect entry into professional level photography

I was looking for a camera to improve the quality of my photographs and video production for small projects. My budget was limited but I knew I had to have interchangeable lenses to be able to get different looks (brightness, depth of field) etc. The M6 Mark II delivers on that in a size that sill easy to take with you. I can put the camera, a couple of batteries, 3 lenses and a mic, into a small case and keep that in my backpack. The image quality is stellar especially with the ability to shoot in manual mode and in Canon RAW. There's no comparison to older HD video cameras or even the best cell phone cameras.

Not sure, but I would expect that it would autofocus. I have an EF 100-400 Mark II and it focuses with both the 1.4x and with the 2.0x on my M5. It seems unlikely that the M6 Mark II would be worse than the M5.
