Recently received the lens but I am confident this is now my go to lens for walk about. Very wide focal length allows for good landscapes, real estate photos, and group photos. The minimum focusing distance makes this a good lens for quasi-macro photography as well. I have not had a chance to try this for astrophotography yet but I am hoping the F-Stop is sufficient to make that worthwhile. If you are on the fence between this and the 14-35 L then I highly recommend this, the 15-35, it's wonderful to work with.

Its awesome to finally own a lens that can go out super wide. Must have for street photography. I routinely photograph boardwalks and you can fit entire large carnival rides into the frame with relative ease with this lens. Colors are great and the IS works as advertised. Completely satisfied with both the lens, B&H's customer service, and quick delivery times.

I wanted to love this lens. I bought it new and have sent it in to canon twice to fix centering issues apparent when shooting 15-19mm. They were not successful. Not sure if I got a lemon but figured it out too late.

It depends what you are photographing. People / events/ animals & portraits: 24-70
Landscapes and wide street photography interiors or architecture: 15-35

How does the image sharpness compare to the rf 24-105 for landscape photography?
The Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens is sharper than the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens in the center, it also has less barrel distortion, and less chromatic aberration but the 15-35 has a lot more vignetting when you shoot at 2.8.

I have been using a 17-40 EF 4L with an adapter to the R5. Is there sufficient reason to upgrade to the 15-35 2.8L IS?
That depends on if you need more light-gathering power with an extra stop and or need the extra millimeters of the field of vision along with the shallow depth of field. The Canon RF lens is sharper all the way around. The 15mm field of vision produces truly fantastic photos when applied to the right juxtaposition period.

I'm trying to decide between the RF 15-35mm or the RF kit lens 24-105mm. Which should I go for?
That’s a very subjective question. While the 15-35 is faster, one could argue that the 24-105 is more flexible given its greater focal range. Both are built well and have excellent image quality. I think if video is your primary focus, you might be served better by the 24-105. But for stills the 15-35 is a better option.
It really comes down to the field of view that you require. Are you working in tight spaces? If so the 15-35 might prove indispensable. It really is a personal choice.
