Poised to be the new workhorse zoom, the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM is a versatile wide-angle to portrait-length lens characterized by its bright, advanced, and intuitive design. The constant f/2.8 maximum aperture suits working in difficult lighting conditions and also enables greater control over depth of field. The optical design incorporates a series of aspherical and Ultra-Low Dispersion elements, which greatly reduce a variety of aberrations throughout the zoom range in order to produce sharp and clear imagery. An Air Sphere Coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting when working in strong lighting conditions.
Balancing the distinguished optical assets is the Nano USM focus system, which delivers fast, nearly silent autofocus performance with full-time manual focus override. An Image Stabilizer also compensates for up to five stops of camera shake to help produce sharper handheld shots in difficult lighting conditions. A unique Control Ring is also integrated into the lens design for intuitive control over exposure settings from the lens itself. Additionally, this 24-70mm is weather-sealed and has a fluorine coating to protect the front and rear elements.

Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS Reviews
Staple must have for events
In the past I had a Tamron version that I got rid of after switching to mirrorless bodies (they weren't compatible). After a few years of going without, I began getting more event bookings and while my 16-35 worked well enough for those wider shots (I also use a 70-200), I just really missed that 24-70 range. This lens is fantastic, fast and sharp. I rarely use f/2.8 (usually at f/4) but it's nice to have that option. I do think the price is a bit high tho, if I'm being completely honest haha.
My first Canon RF lens
I recently purchase a Canon R5 MkII body with a EF adapter. I have a large quiver of EF lenses, including a EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II that has been used hard and put away wet. It worked fine on the R5, but I was tempted with the claimed 5 stops of image stabilization on the RF24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM. I am very happy with this new version, my most useful lens.
