Is the zoom or focus internal?

Is the zoom or focus internal?
Asked by: Bill
The focusing elements are internal as they are moved back and forth electromagnetically within the barrel. The front of the lens does not twist to do that, so it will not make the use of a circular polarizer or graduated ND filter more difficult. There is still no twisting of the front filter threads during zooming (and the lens will indeed extend) as you head toward the maximum focal length of 350mm.

How many stops of image stabilization in the lens?
Asked by: Mark
Image stabilization (called OSS by Sony) is a must on lenses with these focal lengths, and the 70-350 has it, though Sony doesn’t publish any estimates on how many stops of shake reduction the lens offers. One article says it has about three stops.

I use the Sony 700-300 for bird photography. Does the 70-350 add enough quality to make it worth the expense?
Asked by: Irwin
If you are referring to this lens as the one you own, Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS Lens, that lens is a bit better in low light. For focal length the 70-350 is longer so can be that much longer to catch the shot. Note the 70-350 is not a full frame lens like the FE 70-300.
