Remarkable!

If you own a Sony A7RIII or A7RIV and you shoot birds/wildlife you definitely need this lens. Gives you 500+ mm in crop mode with outstanding sharpness, which can easily be cropped 50+ %. That and a weight about 25% of a Sony 200-600mm or 100-400mm lens. The A7RIV gives a 26MB file in crop mode at about 530mm.

I've gotten some incredible wildlife shots with this lens and really like the light weight feel of this lens as I like to do long distance hiking. It does struggle at times with darker / low light conditions. Very good auto focus feature. It will also be a good travel lens and I look forward to trying it out on an upcoming trip.

Although not the fastest lens, this one is terrific when the light is right. It's beautifully sharp and a pleasure to handle but you need to use a tripod or monopod do keep it steady when fully extended.

With my A6400 - terrific tele pix at all focal lengths, especially fully extended. OSS works well, even at 350mm. Needs at least a bit of light. It is my favorite lens.

Pretty good lens

I bought this to use with a6400. Wanting to get long range but keeping the weight down. This thing is pretty solid, the build quality is pretty good, as well as image quality, justifying $1000 cost. Using it with a6400 means I get 525 mm equivalent, all in a small and light package. Happy with the purchase.

Great All Purpose Medium Tele

Sure it isn't as sharp as the Sigma 100-400 (or my Sony 100-400) but it weighs half as much and more compact. But this is a lens many will find useful for shooting their kids soccer games, pets, and candid individual photography. Easy to take on hikes too. Image quality is excellent, but be aware this is not a fast lens and functions best under bright conditions. One note, my lens was not sharp...then I realized it was a UV filter I had placed on the lens. Taking that off resulted in a dramatic improvement in the image quality.

What a great lens!

Very nice telephoto zoom, bought this to replace a 70 to 300 for my Sony A mount that the cat knocked down and broke the end of the lens. Feels very much quality made, like the zoom lock!

Is the zoom or focus internal?

Is the zoom or focus internal?
Asked by: Bill
The focusing elements are internal as they are moved back and forth electromagnetically within the barrel. The front of the lens does not twist to do that, so it will not make the use of a circular polarizer or graduated ND filter more difficult. There is still no twisting of the front filter threads during zooming (and the lens will indeed extend) as you head toward the maximum focal length of 350mm.

How many stops of image stabilization in the lens?
Asked by: Mark
Image stabilization (called OSS by Sony) is a must on lenses with these focal lengths, and the 70-350 has it, though Sony doesn’t publish any estimates on how many stops of shake reduction the lens offers. One article says it has about three stops.

I use the Sony 700-300 for bird photography. Does the 70-350 add enough quality to make it worth the expense?
Asked by: Irwin
If you are referring to this lens as the one you own, Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS Lens, that lens is a bit better in low light. For focal length the 70-350 is longer so can be that much longer to catch the shot. Note the 70-350 is not a full frame lens like the FE 70-300.
