Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS Reviews
Highly Recommend for Bird/Wildlife Photography

I purchased this lens for days when I don't feel like lugging around the Sony 200-600mm and so far it's been fantastic for that. Though it's much smaller and cheaper, it doesn't sacrifice quality or user-friendliness. Photos are sharp, its compact size make it easy to toss in a small bag, and the stabilization works really well. One minor con is that it has a tendency to switch focus from the subject to elements in front of it, but I'm able to recover pretty quickly. This could just be a matter of adjusting some settings or user error. I was initially a bit worried about the reach but that hasn't been a real issue. I've paired this lens with the a6700 for bird photography and I can see it being useful for sports photography since the autofocus works incredibly well.
Light & sharp, perfect for my A6700

I am very pleased with this lens. It does everything that I could reasonably ask of it. Were compromises made? Of course. It would be nice if it had a larger f/stop, but then it would be heavier. It would be nice if it had a bit longer reach, but then it would be heavier. If I were a young sports photographer without back problems, I would probably opt for the 400-800 FE or similar, but I am neither. For me, it is not too heavy, is very sharp, and is long enough.

Is the zoom or focus internal?
Is the zoom or focus internal?
Asked by: Bill
The focusing elements are internal as they are moved back and forth electromagnetically within the barrel. The front of the lens does not twist to do that, so it will not make the use of a circular polarizer or graduated ND filter more difficult. There is still no twisting of the front filter threads during zooming (and the lens will indeed extend) as you head toward the maximum focal length of 350mm.

How many stops of image stabilization in the lens?
Asked by: Mark
Image stabilization (called OSS by Sony) is a must on lenses with these focal lengths, and the 70-350 has it, though Sony doesn’t publish any estimates on how many stops of shake reduction the lens offers. One article says it has about three stops.

I use the Sony 700-300 for bird photography. Does the 70-350 add enough quality to make it worth the expense?
Asked by: Irwin
If you are referring to this lens as the one you own, Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS Lens, that lens is a bit better in low light.
For focal length the 70-350 is longer so can be that much longer to catch the shot.
Note the 70-350 is not a full frame lens like the FE 70-300.
