Very good travel telephoto lens that can fit with the camera in small belt mount case. Fast focus and sharp images using Sony a6500.

If you own a Sony A7RIII or A7RIV and you shoot birds/wildlife you definitely need this lens. Gives you 500+ mm in crop mode with outstanding sharpness, which can easily be cropped 50+ %. That and a weight about 25% of a Sony 200-600mm or 100-400mm lens. The A7RIV gives a 26MB file in crop mode at about 530mm.

What a great lens!

This is sharp, and light weight. Worth the price. Buy it.

Very nice telephoto zoom, bought this to replace a 70 to 300 for my Sony A mount that the cat knocked down and broke the end of the lens. Feels very much quality made, like the zoom lock!

I've gotten some incredible wildlife shots with this lens and really like the light weight feel of this lens as I like to do long distance hiking. It does struggle at times with darker / low light conditions. Very good auto focus feature. It will also be a good travel lens and I look forward to trying it out on an upcoming trip.

Although not the fastest lens, this one is terrific when the light is right. It's beautifully sharp and a pleasure to handle but you need to use a tripod or monopod do keep it steady when fully extended.

Best of the Best

You're an amateur photographer. You have kids in sports. You mostly just want to take photos with everything on Auto feature. You want a lens that takes measurably better pictures than the standard kit lenses. Then this is the lens for you. Even indoors with kids racing across the basketball court, this lens paired with a Sony APSC camera works the wonders you've been looking for. Where maybe on a good day 30 to 40% of your photos with the kit lens looked barely okay (and probably still needed to be enhanced), with this lens 80 to 90% of your photos looks sharp, crisp, like something you'd want to share, even before doing any enhancing. The zoom feature is excellent. The ability to lock on to subjects is precise. I've tried both kit lenses (16-55mm and 55-210mm) and the 18-135mm. I finally spent the money on this lens and I couldn't be more satisfied. This one is the best,... and by a long, long way. When I was shopping for a camera and the right lens, this is precisely the review that would have helped me out so much. Hopefully it helps you.

Not cheap for APS-C, but definitely worth the price.

A bit cumbersome, until you compare it to the full-frame behemoths you'd need otherwise. Tack-sharp, killer auto-focus tracking, and the built-in stabilization you need to shoot long focal lengths at f/6.3. I tried going cheap with the reflex tele lenses, wish I had just bit the bullet and got this first. Even though my kit lens is the otherwise solid Sony 18-135, I'm now just carrying the Sigma trio and this new Sony beast.
