Not seeing any reviews here, I'm wondering if anyone can speak to the usability of this EVF? Coming from the Sony FS5, with a garbage evf, I don't have high hopes. Is this sufficient or should I be looking at the Zacuto Gratical or other?
Asked by: Anders
I wouldn't add a 3rd party EVF to this cam. It will add a whole set of new problems for what will likely be just a marginal improvement in image quality if there even is one. I use a Gratical Eye on a Red Komodo. It's a pain. First, you'll need to find a way to get power to it, which will likely involve using a different battery with a D-Tap. Then if the EVF doesn't have a power switch, you'll find yourself having to unplug it to save your battery life between shots. But probably the most irritating thing to me is the little nipple-switch menu/shortcut control. Seems every time I go to adjust the position of the EVF, that get's tapped and I unintentionally activate a function like peaking, which I may already have active in the camera. In any case, if I were buying one of these Canons, I would also buy the "fitted" EVF.

can you turn off this viewfinder to save batteries.
Asked by: William
The manufacturer does not provide specific details to define whether or not this unit can be turned off and we have found no switches, which would allow for that process to occur.
