Take panoramic photos and videos without actually panning your camera GoPro MAX 360 Action Camera. Using opposite side lenses, the MAX can capture everything that happens in a 360° view in up to 4992 x 2496 resolution video and 5760 x 2880 still photos. Both photos and video are automatically stitched in the camera for editing flexibility and easy sharing. It can also use only one lens to capture traditional GoPro HERO-style wide-angle action footage when needed.
Multiple Creative Modes
The MAX supports multiple modes for creative video and photos, such as PowerPano mode, which can take 270° still photos without distortion. TimeWarp mode allows you to record in standard HERO mode with a variable speed function; you can slow down and then speed up your footage in real time with one tap.
HyperSmooth and Leveling
There are four lens sizes to choose from for just the right angle: Narrow, Linear, Wide, and Max SuperView for those extremely wide shots. HyperSmooth provides smooth stabilization for your action shots featuring horizon leveling within the camera for super-steady footage in both HERO or 360 modes.
Surround Audio
To complement the camera's spherical video, spherical audio is also recorded. Using six microphones, you can record sounds from all directions, creating a totally immersive 360° surround-sound video playback experience.
Quik App and Streaming
  • Similar to its cousins the HERO7 or HERO8 Black, the MAX supports live streaming to social media in 1080p.
  • In the Quik app, use Reframe to transform your mind-bending 360 footage into traditional, easy-to-watch-and-share videos that blow your audience away. You can also experiment with countless views, instantly create cinematic transitions, and more.
Battery Life and Recording
The MAX comes with a 1600mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, a curved adhesive mount, two protective lenses, two lens caps, a mounting buckle, and a USB-C cable for charging. Recording on the MAX requires a minimum class 10 or UHS-1 microSD card up to 256 GB in size. The MAX supports the HEVC video format, which records very small files while preserving image quality, saving you precious space on your SD card.
Waterproof and Voice Control
The MAX is waterproof to 16' to protect it during light water shoots and from splashes and rain. The camera's touchscreen provides quick and easy management, but when your hands are full, the MAX understands 14 voice commands in over ten languages and accents. Just say "GoPro, take a photo", and your MAX will use your current settings to snap a photo. It also features a USB-C output to offload your video to your computer.

GoPro MAX 360 Reviews

Great Camera But...

I've had it over a year and while it works great and the quality is stellar, I have a hard time editing the footage. GoPro no longer has the Fusion suite (as far as I can tell), so I'm using their Quik software. This program is no bueno. I can't seem to edit the footage very well and when I get something in the 360 option, the Timelapse is so shaky and I cannot figure out how to keep the shot still. Is there a Premiere Pro plugin to edit the footage there or maybe for Resolve? Aside from that, it's a good cam! I also have the Insta360 x1 and their software is SO MUCH better!

Not great for cold weather

Got this to keep an eye on things while I commute by bike. Worked well all summer. My ride is about 6.5 miles, with 1 mile on roads to the trail, 4.5 miles on the trail, and 1 mile on roads from the trail to the office. No need to record my time on the trail, I'd turn it off once I was on the trail, but once the temperature started getting below 50F the battery wouldn't stay on when I turned it back on at the other end of the trail. Below 40F it doesn't stay warm enough in a pocket to be able to turn on again at the other end of the trail. So now I'm recording the entire ride, which means I'm charging the camera every day and manually clearing the card every other day to be able to record my rides. There's no way this would work for a day skiing unless I brought a ton of extra batteries and kept them stored directly against my body, or got mostly footage from the chair lift. I've also never been able to find a good spot to mount it on a bike - the best place is hanging from my left handlebar drop, but that keeps me from getting Bar Mitts on and off. So, I work with the camera's limits instead of the camera working for me. The 360 view is neat but it just doesn't work well as a commuter camera.

Love this! But beware HEVC

First one I ordered elsewhere had issues operating from battery after the first day so I returned it and ordered from B&H. The 2nd one arrived in totally different packaging which indicates the 1st one was an earlier release. As I also recently discovered with my newly purchased Hero 9 Black, some recording modes unfortunately utilize the wretched HEVC h.265 codec, which is a pain to edit. Many older CPUs and GPUs don't have the hardware decoding ability so it will not work on such systems regardless of the software you install. For instance one of my i7 machines could import and play it but the older i7 couldn't even using the same software. The GoPro App will allow you to work with and export the footage, and Resolve 17, Lightworks Pro, HitFilm Pro (new version) and Vegas Pro 19 all can work with the footage to some degree. Premiere Pro CS6 will not but apparently the latest rental CC version has a plugin for it. Capturing 360 video is an exciting new world and I'm looking forward to all the great things that can be done. At the very least it replaces having 2 regular GoPros facing opposite directions. The quality is good and it comes with extra lens covers. This thing is so much fun I'll likely buy another one when the price drops near discontinue time

Very Easy to use and gives great 360 pictures, videos and regular 1080p videos. Voice command works great for taking 360 pictures.

Mandatory Buggy Software, Overheats

By Ryan

The GoPro line suffers from a lack of improvement and innovation in the areas that matter. Like the newer Hero models, this also overheats even in 32*F weather. The software that is required to convert the proprietary 360 video to an editable format is only available through the Windows Store (or Apple equivalent) and contains numerous bugs which make the product unreliable for a video editing workflow. One week the app will be fine and I can render out my video, the next week the GoPro app will render out incomplete files, crash, or outright just not open at all. It's not reliable at all. The latest firmware for the camera is also buggy and will occasionally lock up entirely, requiring removal of the battery. The only benefit this has over the alternatives is its form factor, but it's not worth the other problems just for a more compact 360 camera.

It's okay

I bought this camera exactly 2 years ago. And stopped using it after 3 months. My main purpose was to get an unusual images from my vacations. And soon I found the commercials are not truthful. Yes, the camera is really waterproof, I swam with it in ocean a dozen times. But nobody told me the GoPro Max is useless underwater! Being immersed even in 1 inch into water, it provides blurry unusable pics. The second disappointment is the quality. Even In sunny day, with cleaned lenses it doesn't provide a real 4K resolution. Sorry, it is not even close to GoPro 8 and higher.

The GoPro Hero Max offers a USB C port to connect to USB wall adapters as well as USB battery banks. If using a USB battery bank, run times can depend on on capacity of the power bank. Power bank example is Acellories 10,000mAh Power Badge Power Bank (Black) BH #ACPB500B • MFR #PB500-B. https://bhpho.to/2NFmkzc. You can expect over 4 hours of run time.
