As is the case with most Really Right Stuff products, the bracket seems exceedingly well made and offs a snug stable fit. As always the combination of the Really Right Stuff bracket with their clamp outfitted ball heads makes shoot much more efficient and enjoyable.

The RRS L-Plate for the Sony a7Riv is great. Makes it so much easier to switch between landscape and portrait settings. Battery and cable ports are all easily accessible with the plate fixed in position. I don't see a reason for removing this off my camera.

Best of the Best

You won’t find higher quality, or better designed L-brackets than those made by RRS. They’re made in the USA, too.

Not good after all

I did a earlier review on the RRS L-bracket where I critizised this one already. After using it for a period I am complete done with this L-bracket. The sharp edges and insides do get me crazy, specially if you consider the price you have to pay for this item. I did ask RRS about it and they came with the answer that they only soften the sides where your hands will touch it, yes they decide for you where your hands will be. And the reason is that the product will become more expensive with no benefit for the customer. Yes more expensive again, I don't know the gold prices for this weight but it is ridiculous expensive allready. And no benefit for the customer, I thought this would be up to deside by the customer. So I will not recommend this RRS bracket anymore. I do hope to sell mine off, but I don't dare to ask such a price for this item, it will be less then 50% I paid. I myself did buy the Kirk L-bracket with no sharp edges or insides, it follows the lines of camera better feeling more compact as the RRS. The silver colour QD inserts are most welcome to me, easy to find when connecting to the Magpul strap. So I do recommend you looking at the Kirk bracket before. They don't have sharp edges and they kept the price lower. The Kirk bracket really fits nice and I will only take it off when cleaning the camera. The price of the Kirk L-bracket is 10% lower and I do find it 30% better as the RRS bracket. So I do recommend you to look at the Kirk bracket first before pulling the tricker. In the stage that I bought the RRS, the Kirk bracket was not available, they were even not sure at that time that it would see daylight.

As usual RRS is providing the best quality at the best price, offers handling upgrade for big hands and great protection on top of the arca swiss type of grip.

I bought this because I was in need to and couldn't wait any more to the upcoming L-plates for A7R4 with grip from Promediagear and Kirk. The RRS one is well made with a few flaws. First The rounded corners do feel sharp at the inside. And second the centermark on the horizontal bar is hardly visible as you can see in the 2nd picture on the B&H site. And in the 3rd picture you can see it was unneccasary with a little different design. Further I am able to open the doors on the camera without having to move the L-bracket. The QD point on the horizontal bar give you an uneven balance. So if you need one direct like I did I can recommend it but for this premium price I say wait for the Kirk and Promediagear bracket if you can. I aspect that the Kirk bracket will support the QD system, don't know about price now. The Promediagear bracket comes at a much lower price but will not support the QD system, but they have their own system. I suppose as good but not compatible. Further I did see a review on the Kirk bracket for the Sony A7R4 without grip talking about the environment. I to find this important, so I do like to say that as well RRS as B&H use plastic during shipping which is killing for mother earth and absolute not needed for this L-bracket. I tried a several times to upload a picture from the bubble plastic used by B&H and the plastic bag from RRS, but that doesn't work. But I do like to ask both companys to change their policy for shipping materials they use. Attaching it to a cardboard would have been enough fromm RRS and some wrinkled paper cuold easily replace the bubble plastic used by B&H. Thank you.

The Q & A says this is compatible with the Sony A7SIII, but does this bracket gives enough clearance to fully utilize the LCD in a forward facing position with the Sony A7SIII?
Asked by: Derek
According to RRS, the four main view positions on the LCD of the A7S III are available, which are rear, forward, above and below. However, the physical nature of the L-plate and the space it occupies to serve its purpose will impair the full articulation of the LCD to have the ability of placing it any degree between those 4 main positions.
