Lexar 256GB CFexpress Type B Reviews

Works for me

My Nikon Z7ii has both CFexpress and SD slots, which is a drag for me since all my other cameras use only SD. Didn't need the speed, but I did want the backup of having 2 cards, so this was a relatively affordable way to get a CFexpress card and a reader. It fits, it works, the reader is faster than my SD ones and the card is more than fast enough for my usage. So what's not to like?

A cheap but very high-quality card. B&H Photo is a very serious company that takes care of its customers. The package that arrived in record time was extremely well secured and packaged. The card and the reader are of very high quality and meet all professional standards. My highest recommendation for this item.

A noticeable difference

Although my Canon R5 supports both SD and CFexpress cards, I was waiting for price reductions on the CFexpress cards. I had never previously tried shooting with a CFexpress card. Now that I have, I have a feeling SD cards will be less prominent in my camera. The differences in speed is remarkably noticeable. What's more, the transfer speed to my iMac is ridiculously fast. Lexar was my go-to SD card provider and they will certainly be my go-to CFexpress provider.

Have two of these in my Z9 and they work well. The reader is much faster than my prior reader and does not get nearly as hot as quickly.

Likewise for D500 in a response attributed to Nikon support asking the same thing for that camera. Expect a firmware update but no details being shared from them at this time.

Is the sustained write speed of this card sufficient for the 8k30 Raw on the Canon R5? (2.6Gbps == 325MBps)
Asked by: William
This is the best type of card you can get for the R5. In 8K RAW 30 the data rates are about 2600 Mbps. I would probably suggest a different CFExpress card with a faster write speed if you're aiming to film in 8K raw.
