The Leica Q2 L-Plate with Grip from Really Right Stuff is a solid one-piece design that is handled comfortably by its ergonomic extended grip. The Arca-type L-plate facilitates easier, more stable switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations when working on top of a tripod. The CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum plate maintains complete access to the camera's battery door and side ports. It also has an anodized type II black finish that is resistant to scuffs and scratches and with laser-engraved center marks on the back for alignment on a tripod head. An integrated QD socket is found on the bottom of the plate to use with the compatible Magpul QD Sling strap.

Really Right Stuff BQ2-LPG Reviews
Couldn't be more pleased!
This appeals to me so greatly because I can access my memory card and battery - opening and working with each without removing the L-plate. Further, I can leave the L-plate in place and screw in yet an additional tripod head plate when desired and still have full access. All so convenient!!
Typical RRS quality
Fits perfectly. Might have a bit of a struggle to get sd card out if you have fingers like mine; can always use a tweezer.
It's the way to go
I just have to say that if you have a Leica Q2, do yourself a favor and get the Really Right Stuff plate, forget about the one Leica offers, RRS is the real way, functional, gives consistency to the camera, protects it and also has access to the battery without any problem, for me it is a FIVE STAR product.
L Bracket is what I needed, and I got it
I purchased this from another vendor (B&H was out of stock and I wanted it quickly). I didn't really need or want a grip; just wanted the L-bracket. That said, it has all I need and is the usual great quality RRS product. The grip is perhaps a bit slippery....would be nice if it were knurled or something, but that's just me. All in all, I'm quite happy with the product, and it satisfies my needs just fine.
Great Grip and Protection
I purchased the Leica grip with the Q2 Monochrom, but the fact that I had to keep taking it off just to access the card slot made me return it and get the RRS version. Not only does it give additional protection on the non-grip side, it has ARCA compatible dove tail for both portrait and landscape orientation. For my fingers, the openings are sufficient for me to access both the SD Card and the battery. Seems equal in quality to all the other RSS L-plates I have used. The texture is smooth but the grip shape gives me ample hold to feel secure using it.
Function and Utility Over Form and Feel
As one expects from Really Right Stuff their Q2 L-Plate with Grip is beautifully designed and machined. The L-Plate works perfectly, but the unit is a compromise between function/utility and form/feel. Unlike the Leica grip that I have on a Q-2 Monochrom that feels natural and easy to use for hours, the Really Right Stuff L-Plate that I have on my Q2 feels boxy and a little unnatural in my hand. With that said, I bought it anyway and would do it again because being able to lash it to my tripod and having access to both the battery (big deal) and memory card without removing the grip.....is a stroke of genius. The price point seems high, until you take into account how much time it took on a high quality CNC machine to cut this precision piece of equipment from a block of aircraft quality aluminum. Like presents us with a series of trade offs. I was willing to trade feel for function and I'd do it again.
Improves camera feel
This accessory really improves the camera grip on the right side. While it makes the camera a little bigger, it improves the handling immensely. I also use a Canon EOS R5 and EOS M6. I am used to that bump on the right side. The Q2 is a carry camera and I don't know how much it will be on a tripod but that feature works well if you need it. No problem getting to the battery or CF card. Well made and finished. No problem with fit as some others mentioned. Don't think it will ever come off the camera.
Will Scratch your QA - AVOID!!!
I've had countless cameras in the past 20yrs and ever since RRS made the L-Bracket an option for your specific camera models, I've jumped in and bought one. Fast forward to now, I bought this for my Leica Q2 as I do use one for landscapes and often I shoot multi-shots in portrait mode for panoramas, hence, this is a perfect tool for the job. The problem is RRS QA is non-existent. This L-bracket tolerances are so tight on the edges especially the rounded sides edges, which SCRATCHED my new Q2. I had to cut strips of Gaffers tape and placed them where contact is evident to avoid further damage. I'm very disappointed with this purchase, the lack luster attention to details, and careless QA standards. For $225, you should expect a perfect fit with Zero inflicted damage. In fact, you should feel confident putting it on knowing that you have an added level of protection, however, this purchase proved to be otherwise. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!
