It certainly helps hold the camera when using a heavier lens like the 43.5 1.2. It will still fit in my camera case.

I have the Lumix GX 85 and I love the camera. However, the grip on that camera is none existent. I always wanted the Panasonic made grip for the camera, but since this is my C cam/travel camera and I paid very little for it, I didn't want to spend $60+ on an accessory for it. The Vello CG-GX9 was in the B&H Deal Zone for a great price so I picked it up. I absolutely love it. It adds enough grip to the camera to make it much more comfortable to hold. It also becomes it's own Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate so you can just attach to your tripods without adding anything additional. There is also an opening that allows you to access your battery and sd card. Another added bonus is that there is another screw mount on the bottom of this grip for adding quick release plates, L brackets, etc. The mount on the GX85 itself is locate closer to the front of the camera and right below the lens mount. This can be annoying since it causes some quick release plates to stick out in front of the camera and also touch the bottom of longer lenses you would use. The mount on the grip is further back, closer to the screen, which is a much better placement for it. Overall this is a great accessory for your GX9 or GX 85. The grip is not deep as the official Panasonic grip, but still much better than what you get on the camera out of the box. If you can get it for a discounted price, I would highly recommend it.

Definitely better than no grip

I can't give it full stars becasue they should have been much BIGGER on the grip. I own a GX85. It fits securely to the camera. The camera without it is much harder to hold onto. BUT... 1. The finger grip section needs to be the same height or taller than the factory grip. 2. It ought to be wider. It only partly covers the width of the factory grip area. 3. I'd go a bit thicker too...like 1/4 more thickness. I can machine metal. In the end, I'll make my own grip section for the base plate that actually fits the cameras factory grip area.

I bought this for my GX-85 after reading the good reviews for it. The reviews were correct in their assessment of it fitting my camera well. It is a well crafted accessory! I especially like the fact that it's cheaper than the Panasonic version and can access the battery and SD card w/o removing the grip. The sale price made it a good value as well.

Nice fit, and since it is a little and thin camera, I always looked for an extra grip. Love it! Also, I can mount it in my arca swiss style tripod head. Great!

Enhance the grip

I'm using on my GX85, and Vello CG-GX9 provide very confortable firm grip to my GX85. If I have only one choic to upgrade my GX85, this grip is one of top 3 accessories that I want to apply to GX85. Built in tripod mount is excellent option. I was able to loop PeakDesign teather on it, too. Great accessory for my GX85.

Adding the Vello CG-GX9 grip to my DC-GX9 immediately changed the feel of the camera from, “meh” to, “oh yeah, that feels right”. Just enough “extra” and where it needs to be. Additionally, with a left hand cupping grip, the battery/card well provides as an anchor point for middle and/or fourth finger. I tend to be a little hard on my equipment. The Vello hand grip appears to have just enough to save from base plate and and corner dings. The grip’s base also appears to protect the bottom edge of the display screen (when compressed) without interfering with function. Good stuff! (Note: medium/large hands of average girth)

I bought the Vello hand grip for my GX-85 because I needed additional leverage when using the Lumix 100-300mm lens without a tripod. The grip gave the right amount of extra support and leverage in those situations. Pleased with the product.

Unfortunately the Panasonic ZS100 is too small and it won't fit well. The battery opening won't line up for instance.
