General Features

For Creative Professionals

When it comes to storing your creativity and digital portfolio, WD Black drives can be used to store large multimedia files that contain photos, videos, games, or applications and programs. With a WD Black drive, you get a combination of speed, capacity, and large cache sizes.

For Gamers

WD Black drives are also suited for gaming machines by offering large capacities to store a game's downloadable content (DLC) and large cache sizes, as well as helping to further maximize system performance when paired with an SSD. WD Black drives also include StableTrac technology for more accurate data tracking and to help reduce any impact due to vibrations for additional gaming hardware.
This WD Black drive is equipped with StableTrac technology by securing the motor shaft inside to increase stability and help reduce impact due to system-induced vibrations from other components. By stabilizing the platters inside, the drive is more accurate in tracking particular sectors during read and write operations, optimizing performance and reliability.

Increased DRAM Cache

This WD Black drive delivers high transfer speeds and read rates of your files with a 256MB DRAM cache. WD's Dynamic Cache technology improves caching algorithms in real time to allocate and optimize the cache between reads and writes. This movement of cache for read data helps to reduce congestion and increase overall performance.

Dual Processing

When it comes to processing power, more is always better, especially for loading games and large multimedia files. This WD Black drive features a dual-core processor that offers increased processing capabilities as compared to a single-core processor, helping to maximize drive performance for faster read and write speeds.

Photo shows SKU WD2003FZEX but SKU shown in post heading is WDBSLA0020HNC-NRSN; which SKU is this actually for?
Asked by: Mike
The MFR # is confusing. I purchased the 4TB version of this drive in November 2019. B&H product page and the box both said MFR #WDBSLA0040HNC-NRSN. The actual 4TB drive inside was the WD4005FZBX, which is the current WD Black 4TB offering. The current 2TB WD Black is WD2003FZEX which matches the answer below. Yes, the box was black and white.

I intend to hook up 4 of these as part of a RAID 0 array to boost performance speeds while doing photo editing and graphics intensive work. Is the WD Black ideal for RAID 0, or are they better options out there? Seagate Ironwolf Pro perhaps?
Asked by: Tommy
Based on my internet research so far, it does seem that the WD Black ranks among the best HDDs in terms of speed and reliability - but only when used as a single drive, and not within a RAID environment. Since I intend to use a RAID 0 (disk striping) configuration, I'm not sure if some of WD Black's benefits such as the dual-core processor for improved performance actually does work for RAIDs. Perhaps someone could shed some light into this?

what cable (s) i should buy with it ?
Asked by: Turki
you will need a SATA data cable and you should look at the power supply's cables not already in use for a SATA style power connector, if there is not one handy you can get a molex to dual sata adapter since there is almost always a left over molex !
