6TB Black 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal HDD (4-Pack, Retail) Reviews
Fast Hard Drive
Nice capacity, reads-writes is fast. Reasonably priced.
Will not buy again
I purchased this drive to replace a 6-year-old Seagate Barracuda drive that was still running great but is now too small. I switched to WD this time on the basis of both price and reports that showed WD offering better long-term reliability these days. (My own experience with external drives agrees with those reports.) However....I hate this new drive. The noise level is awful!! Other reviewers complained that this drive was noisy, but I took a chance. I don't mind clicks and clunks when I access files -- that's the drive doing it's job. However, this drive has two problems: It clicks loudly every 5 seconds, even when idle; and worse yet, it makes a loud whirring/rubbing sound the entire time it's spinning. My two Seagate drives in this system were completely inaudible over the system fans, but this new drive drowns out everything around it by a large margin. Worse yet, there are high-frequency components to the whirring that grate on my nerves, but which the engineers at WD apparently can't even hear (or they would never have released this product). I was planning to upgrade my other Seagate Barracuda soon, too, given that it is also 6 years old. Needless to say, I'll be replacing that one with a Seagate rather than another WD. My biggest regret with this new drive is that the 5-year warranty means I can't justify replacing it anytime soon.
Fast and Reliable
I have many hard drives (nearly 70) both in service and retired on the shelf in archival cases. I have found WD Black drives are not only fast, but the most reliable in my application. Black drives employ a data structure amenable for both storage and RAID applications.
So far so good
I am in the process of replacing a bunch of HGST drives for my Synology NAS which are starting to show signs of age. I now have 3 of these and about ready to get one more. They are quieter and run cooler than the old HGST drives they are replacing. B&H always superlative service and super good with delivery etc. Of course can't be upset until a drive prematurely fails but so far so good. Will buy more, would highly recommend this drive and B&H
Good Drive for Gaming and Storage
Best for Storage.
Reliable as usual
Easy installation and immediately recognized by my computer, fast speed for a mechanical hard drive, between 190 and 200 mb/s. Very satisfied with my purchase and the impeccable B&H service as usual.
Quiet and fast...
Quiet, fast and reasonably priced. What more could you ask for. The 2TB WD Black that I was replacing worked flawlessly for 6 years. I expect the same from this one.
Needs to be pulled from the shelves...
The hard drive was so noisy I had to disconnect it just so I could think. I feel like an idiot now for not taking the most recent reviews seriously. I've used computers with windows 3.1 that had quieter hard drives than this one. Not an understatement! This hard drive is not even worth it when its on sale. The 5 star reviews is a scam! Do not take them seriously. The current batch as of March 2022 is bad DO NOT BUY!
