Pentax 43mm f/1.9 overview

  • 1Description

Distinguished by its slim and sleek pancake profile, the silver smc PENTAX-FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited from Pentax is a normal-length prime well-suited for everyday shooting applications. Its bright f/1.9 maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for isolating subject matter. An eight-blade diaphragm also contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. Additionally, this lens features a PENTAX smc multi-layer coating, which controls ghosting and flare to realize high contrast imagery with accurate, neutral color balance.

Normal-length 43mm lens is designed for full-frame Pentax K-mount cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 64.5mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.9 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
PENTAX smc multi-layer coating helps to greatly reduce surface reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
Slim, pancake form factor results in a sleek and extremely portable design well-suited for everyday shooting.
Eight-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth bokeh quality.

smc PENTAX-FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited Lens (Silver) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Lens I mount this lens onto A7R via an adaptor. This is a very good quality, small and high precision lens. It is very sharp with good rendition beautifl color lens. I could use it in wide open and get excellent picture. Small, light weight, good manufacturing process, good material, great optical performance, FF lens and very competitive price. What I want more?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Beauty! This lens is right in keeping with other Pentax primes - sharp, fast and delivers wonderful colors. I use this, the 15mm and the 70mm almost exclusively for magazine-quality work. Why the professional community hasn't embraced the Pentax line more enthusiastically is beyond me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The finest Autofocus lens ever made Not really much to say here, but it is perhaps the finest autofocus lens ever made in my opinion. Unipue character and rendering and remarkably sharp a well. Bild is like an autofocus Leica.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice I started portrait photography with SMC Takumar 55/1.8 and was right away striked with its beautiful watercolor-style bokeh. Since then I seek for a auto-focus lens with that style of sharpness and bokeh. And, OMG, I found it - SMC Pentax FA 43/1.9 Limited. Even more sharp wide open - when shooting full-height portrait I can see pattern of the eye iris. Wow! Bokeh even more surrealistic. Very clear colours. Nice low-light performance. Handling is perfect -metall body, tight cover - this lens is truly pleasant to hold. Silver looks just great, even better than Canon grey L series :-)). As a result it's ideal for a commercial portrait, wedding, still commercial photography. And of course, fine-art photography. It's good but not ideal for event and children portrait photography; I have found only three cons: - a little slow auto-focus - it's not always okay when shooting events and little children portraits. Sports shooting is not about the lens; - when shooting at night - strong CA around day-light sources. - be careful about bokeh on stopped down lens - not always suitable for nature and landscape photography. I'm completely satisfied with this beautiful lens.
