By B&H Photo's

Combining a comfortable wide-angle design with an ultra-fast maximum aperture, the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN is part of Sigma's Contemporary series of lenses and designed for use with Canon EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras. Characterized by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens is adept at working in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for selective focus control. As part of the Contemporary line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve a balance between convenience and performance, and meshes a compact, lightweight build and versatile handling with notable optical attributes.
Wide-angle prime is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 25.6mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.4 maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for achieving selective focus effects.
Two special low dispersion (SLD) elements and three F low dispersion (FLD) elements reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve greater clarity and color accuracy.
Two aspherical elements are used to limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.
A super multilayered coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.
A stepping AF motor benefits both photographers and videographers with its fast, precise, and near-silent performance.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.
The bayonet mount is constructed from brass to ensure accuracy and durability. Additionally, rubber sealing in the mount design renders it dust and splash resistant.

The Canon EOS R is dual mode where the camera can be set to crop mode (APS-C), one should still get 16mm via the EOS R adapters no? (looks like some people don't know the EOS R can go crop-mode and are giving wrong answers).
Asked by: David
I don't think that there is an adapter that allows an M-mount lens to be mounted on an R-mount camera. The sensor-to-flange distance for the two mounts are too similar to fabricate one. Other than that, it should work. The lens communicates with the body like an EF lens and has the coverage for an APS-C sensor.

Will this lens work with the Canon 60D?
Asked by: Karen
This will not work on a Canon 60D. This is an EF-M lens, it's for a mirrorless system. Lenses that are compatible with your 60D have the EF or EF-S moniker. Anything other than those two like EF-M, or RF are not compatible.

I'm trying to figure out how this lens varies from the Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM Lens. Are these competing lenses, and would it only make sense to buy one or the other?
Asked by: Joshua
These are not competing lenses, the 16mm is a much wider angle lens than the 32mm. The 16mm would be good for street scenes, landscapes, general photography. The 32mm is good for general shooting as well but not nearly as wide, for photographing 1 or 2 people or interviews, etc...

will this work with Rebel T5i ?
Asked by: Bernie
No, the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Canon EF-M is for Canon EOS M series mirrorless camera like the Canon EOS M6 Mark II. A suitable alternative for a Canon Rebel T5i with its EF mount is the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Canon EF, BH # SI183518DCC. https://bhpho.to/3GI4JQj

Is there any adaptor for that lens to fit on canon 750d?
Asked by: Fikri
Unfortunately there is no adapter to mount an EF-M lens on an EF camera. You could consider the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 zoom instead: https://bhpho.to/33VDyNs It would be nearly as wide and at f1.8 it works well in low light.
