Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Canon EF-M
Key Features
  • EF-M-Mount Lens/APS-C Format
  • 25.6mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16
  • Two SLD Elements, Three FLD Elements
Mixing a comfortable wide-angle design with an ultra-fast maximum aperture, the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN is part of Sigma's Contemporary series of lenses and is designed for use with Canon EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras. Characterized by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens is adept at working in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for selective focus control. The optical design makes use of several low dispersion and aspherical elements, which control color fringing and various aberrations in order to provide high sharpness and clarity throughout the aperture range. Individual elements also feature a Super Multi-Layer Coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. Benefitting the optical assets, this lens also sports a stepping AF motor for quick, quiet, and smooth focusing performance that suits both still photography as well as video applications.

The Canon EOS R is dual mode where the camera can ...

The Canon EOS R is dual mode where the camera can be set to crop mode (APS-C), one should still get 16mm via the EOS R adapters no? (looks like some people don't know the EOS R can go crop-mode and are giving wrong answers).
Asked by: David
I don't think that there is an adapter that allows an M-mount lens to be mounted on an R-mount camera. The sensor-to-flange distance for the two mounts are too similar to fabricate one. Other than that, it should work. The lens communicates with the body like an EF lens and has the coverage for an APS-C sensor.

I'm trying to figure out how this lens varies from the Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM Lens. Are these competing lenses, and would it only make sense to buy one or the other?
Asked by: Joshua
These are not competing lenses, the 16mm is a much wider angle lens than the 32mm. The 16mm would be good for street scenes, landscapes, general photography. The 32mm is good for general shooting as well but not nearly as wide, for photographing 1 or 2 people or interviews, etc...

Is there any adaptor for that lens to fit on canon 750d?
Asked by: Fikri
Unfortunately there is no adapter to mount an EF-M lens on an EF camera. You could consider the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 zoom instead: https://bhpho.to/33VDyNs It would be nearly as wide and at f1.8 it works well in low light.

Will this lens work with the sigma Mc-11 adapter? I realize their is an e-mount option, but I prefer to have my lenses with the EF mount
Asked by: Max
Unfortunately there are no adapters for this. This lens in the EF-M mount would not work with the MC-11 adapter. Keep in mind the EF-M mount is a Canon Mirrorless mount and will not work on EF mount SLR Cameras.

I'm trying to understand the 24mm eqv. If I use this lens on Canon EOS R w/ EF adaptor what would it end up being in simple terms please?
Asked by: Alan
This lens has the EF-M lens mount, not the EF lens mount. The EF-M mount is considerably smaller than the EF mount and an EF-M lens will not attach to the EF Adapter. As far as I know, there is no adapter to connect an EF-M lens to an R-mount body.
