What is the highest zoom magnification?

What is the highest zoom magnification?
Asked by: Anthony
The highest zoom magnification is 1.5 x. The lens is 16-50 mm. The camera is a DX which means its sensor is about 2/3 the size of a full size sensor, such as the FX, which also happens to be the same size as 35 mm film frame. The 50 mm lens can be taken as the 1x lens. Because of the smaller sensor size, any lens put in a DX camera will behave as if it is 1.5x bigger, in this case 1.5 x 50 = 75 mm which is about 1.5 x. This works for any lens so that a 200 mm lens works like a 300 mm lens. On the other hand a wide angle lens such as a 16 mm will behave like a 24 mm so the lens has a smaller field of view on a DX.

I have a Z6 that I use with an FTZ adapter, B&H of course. Will the focal length be the same 1.5 for FX lenses it is with other Nikon DX cameras or does that change? Note, I'm assuming the FTZ for my Z6 will work on the Z50.
Asked by: Manuel
Being that the Z50 has a DX sensor, adapting an F mount FX lens with the FTZ on this camera will give you a crop factor of 1.5X. Using a F mount DX lens with the same adapter will maintain the same DX format of that lens.
