Telephoto zoom is designed for DX-format Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 75-375mm equivalent focal length range.
One extra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Super Integrated Coating suppresses flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
Stepping motor delivers impressively smooth, quiet, and fast autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.
Vibration Reduction image stabilization minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops for sharper handheld shooting.
Programmable Control Ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.
Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.

I recently purchased the Nikon Z50, wanting something lighter and mirrorless. Having an older DSLR lens that would work with the new camera with an adapter I did not buy this lens. I quickly felt that I would prefer a new lens for ease and weight. I love it. Definitely worth it, not too expensive and the service was fantastic. We were traveling and I got the usual speedy service even though we were staying in a Yurt in Escalante Utah!!! Thank you so much.

I use this lens a lot and it does a pretty good job overall. I wish it had more reach, but for the price, it pairs well with the Z-50.

Terrific. Sharp, Light Weight

And with VR image stabilization. Nikon is too chintzy to include a hood so a not supplied version can be yours for $34 extra.

Outstanding!

While Nikon touts on its website that the NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR has the most effective Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization system of any NIKKOR yet (up to 5 stops), all I can say is that in my personal experience I was able to handhold an exposure of 1/10th second at 250mm (equivalent 375mm) with the lens mounted on the Nikon Z50. Razor sharp. The AF system works extremely well, and even makes using Manual Focus super easy and convenient. This lens and the (Z DX 16-50mm) kit lens are obviously designed to work together seamlessly on the Nikon Z50. The 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 lens exhibits superb sharpness and contrast, and renders out of focus backgrounds (bokeh) with a very smooth and pleasant appearance, although it has a maximum aperture of f/6.3 at 250mm. One of the undeniably annoying characteristics of the NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR is the need to unlock the lens before it can be used. It definitely slows down the process of photographing. Nikon has also implemented this annoying characteristic on the smaller kit lens, the Z DX 16-50mm (which also has outstanding image quality). The NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR is light in weight although very plasticky, and when it is collapsed does rattle slightly. The rattle does not seem to indicate a problem with the lens. Due to its light weight the lens balances perfectly on the Z50, even when fully extended to 250mm. All in all this lens is outstanding with great image quality. The worst thing about the NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR is that Nikon does NOT include a lens hood, which you will definitely need, and they charge $35 separately for it; but you can get around that by using one from VELLO ( HB-90A) at B&H for less than half the Nikon price.

Great lens

For a reasonably priced lens the quality of the images is surprising good. The pictures are very sharp and colors are great. It pares very well with my Nikon Z fc, it even makes the camera more comfortable to hold. I have the kit 16-50 lens that came with the camera and now I need nothing else.

This was my first lens after getting a new camera with kit lens. It's been great, zero complaints. Smooth movement, not too heavy, it's my daily driver lens when out walking around.

Yes. See my review for a sample picture with this lens on the Z6. The crop makes it a 10MP camera but that is fine for a lot of work.

What is the difference between this and the S series Zmount lenses?
Asked by: Ryan
This is a Z-mount DX lens that will work fine on a Z6 or Z7-- It will not, however, utilize the entire sensor. You can expect a little more that 19 megapixels of resolution when its attached to the 45 megapixel Z7. Very early reviews describe it as an excellent inexpensive lens. It will not be as sharp or as well built as an S (professional) lens but it seems like a great lens to own for comparatively very little money.

What is the consensus opinion on using this lens on Z6? Is it possible to go for large print sizes as effective mega pixel count would be around 10? Will large screen online viewing be adversely affected?

Using this lens on a Z6 would not produce large quality prints, as far as large screen viewing, it would be fair.

How would this lens compare with the DX 70-300 P with the FTZ adapter on a Z5?
Asked by: Tony
They are very similar. Both are f /4.5-6.3. So about the same in low light. And both have VR. The big difference between them in the Design. The Z mouth lenses by Nikon are designed and optimized for Nikon Z mount mirrorless cameras. Meaning in general it will be better than the same lens in f mount. The adapter does not take away anything from the optics of the lens.
