An update to a prized zoom, the Canon EF-mount atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8 CF from Tokina is a versatile ultra-wide zoom well-suited for landscape, architecture, and interior shooting. Characterized by its bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture, consistent brightness is afforded throughout the zoom range and benefits working in available lighting conditions. The optical design incorporates a series of aspherical and low dispersion elements, which suppress a variety of aberrations for improved sharpness and clarity. Individual elements are also multi-coated to resist flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy when working in bright or backlit conditions. Complementing the optics, this lens features a One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for fast changing between AF and MF settings, and an internal focusing design is used for responsive focusing performance.

Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8 CF Reviews
Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8 CF Lens for Canon EF
I bought it for a job I needed it for and was a little disappointed. The first thing I noticed, it seemed cheaply made. The actual image was slightly shaded on one of my Canon bodies and extremely shaded on another. I couldn't use it for the job I wanted that wide of a lens for, but plan to keep it primarily because of the cost, cheap I'll play with it to see if it has any good qualities.
Fantastic lens with a gimmick
This lens has a great focal range and you can get some really creative shots with this. A bit of a pro and a con, the zoom ring is very stiff. Almost too stiff. Rest assured you can shoot a film with it and not worry about accidentally touching the zoom mid-shot, however, if you do need to zoom in during a take, it is actually pretty hard. The force required almost always shakes the camera and I don't really think a motorized system would work well with it. Might just be my model, but worth mentioning. Now the gimmick is actually about the focus ring. Switching between manual focus and autofocus requires you to move the focus ring... forward and back... what? I've been on a shoot where I used this lens run and gun style and the amount of times I've accidentally switched between the two is aggravating. Not a huge issue with cine cameras with no autofocus, but the autofocus is pretty darn loud. Other than the autofocus, the lens looks great! A little blurry in the far corners but if you're using a lens as wide as this, it doesn't really matter. Good build quality and great image quality for both stills and video. If the focus ring switch was just a switch on the side, this lens would be a 5 out of 5. I can deal with the zoom ring being stiff.
Tokina 11-16mm F2.8
I bought this lens for use with my Nikon D5200. I use it for milkyway and nightscape storm shots. It's crisp edge to edge and I am very pleased with it. Definitely a cost effective solution vs the Nikon. I would buy it again! I will add a couple of shots.
Good wide angle lens
GOOD: Like the build quality well put together, light weight for flogging , wide enough with little to no distortion , can get really close to subject. CONS: this lens is notorious in noise making, fight focus much than I can take, hard to pick focus on distance object.
Exactly what I wanted
I love this lens! It is perfect for landscapes and stars, with very little distortion. I am so glad I bought it!
Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8
Using it for real estate photography on my Nikon DX cropped sensor camera, works great. Photos are sharp and the lens is quieter than other reviewers would have me believe. I am very pleased with this lens.
Have the Original DXII Version
I have the previous version of this lens and its excellent. It's just wide enough to avoid distorted objects but capture all subjects in small surroundings. This is my go to lens for shooting in confined locations both indoors and outdoors. It will capture all your subjects while showing the entire scene. Great for video too!
Great Lens to Pair with Red Komodo
If you're seeking a wide lens beyond the 18-35 Sigma and that can fit your budget without making the image look cheap, this lens is perfect!
