Unexpectedly ejects all the time

Maybe a year after buying, it began ejecting. Support couldn't fix the problem. They replaced it, but that one started ejecting, too. I've tried all the suggestions to fix the problem. Not worth the hassle. At all.

This is not what you think!

I ordered this wd 16tb raid unit to replace a failed 12tb wd my book duo raid unit. After much more research, much to my dismay, despite the settings to mirror the drives, THE DATA WAS IRRECOVERABLE , by me, wihout large expense. These wd raid enclosures use AES hardware encryption that helps prevent unauthorized access. That means you, the owner of the data. If the enclosure fails, as appears they too frequently do, you are out of luck. This is hardly a good solution for data safety. Be aware the AES hardware encryption that helps prevent unauthorized access cannot be user selected as it should be. It is reliant on the circuit board in the enclosure. BTW, wd cannot see fit to sell replacement enclosures. A bad choice for data security and I'm returning the package from BH unopened. Incidentally, the two original 6TB drives still work fine albeit after a reformat which erased all my archived data.

Look as grabman I accept nothing but the best. And when it came to backing up my 23tb ps4 collection I went straight to WD for quality and reliability. After EXTENDED usage I can proudly state that grabman gives 2 thumbs up to the WB 28TB My Book Duo!

In RAID-0, can a single drive letter include the whole 28TB, with the device seamlessly managing the whole device?
Asked by: Timothy
Yes, that is exactly how a RAID 0 volume would behave. You would never see both drives unless you set it up in JBOD (non-raid) where you would then have 2 drives independent from each other.

question

I would buy this WD MY Book except for the propriety encryption. It is just what I am looking for. Can this Duo be backed up to another non-encrypted drive or does the encryption prevent this ??
Asked by: Gary S.
I have the same concern. The WD web site states Set a personalized password to activate hardware encryption and data protection. which implies that it would be off until activated but I would still test it by pulling a drive and sticking it in another enclosure to see if it can be read.
