Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 Overview

Offering a super wide field of view along with an autofocus design, the AF 14mm f/2.8 RF from Samyang is a prime wide-angle lens for Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras. Super wide-angle prime is designed for full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.
Three aspherical elements are incorporated in the optical design to control spherical aberrations for increased clarity and resolution from edge to edge.
Two extra-low dispersion glass elements work to reduce chromatic aberrations; improve overall image sharpness, clarity, and color fidelity; and help to minimize the overall weight of the lens.
An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements in order to reduce flare and ghosting for increased contrast and a neutral color balance.
The integrated autofocus motor provides quick, accurate, and precise AF control. Manual focus override is also available for refining your focus position.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

If you have both systems go for the least costly and if you have the adapter, do the same.

Is there a recommended ND filter holder for the Canon RF mount?
Asked by: Andy
The best/only solution I have found is to use a third-party system made specifically for this lens to allow rear gel filters to be used. I picked up the Haida kit which came with everything needed to do the install as well as 4 filters (0.9, 1.2, 1.8, and 3.0). It works great. B&H sells it but it is a special order - mine took two weeks to get to me.

With EOS RP, will recording video in 1080p HD cause a crop? I don't want to be forced to use 4K FHD
Asked by: Jack
When shooting 1080p HD video on the Canon EOS RP Mirrorless Digital Camera, the camera will use the full width of the sensor with no cropping factor. When shooting 4K UHD video, the camera will use the center of the sensor and would have a 1.7x crop factor.

The specs say this accepts "gel filters (rear)" but in all the pictures I don't see a slot for that - am I missing something? If it does take gel filters (rear), what size?
Asked by: David
The rear mount needs to be replaced with a Haida filter ring and filters. Click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1602001-REG/haida_hd4653_rear_lens_nd_filter.html

What Nd filters for this lense

What Nd filters for this lense
Asked by: youqin
This lens is not front threaded and so will not directly accept filters. One needs a filter holder designed specifically for this lens to attach filters on here. These would use 150mm filters. One option for a holder is the NiSi 150mm Q Filter Holder for Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 FE Lens for Sony E-Mount linked here. https://bhpho.to/2SvTfv0. This says for Sony, but it is also for the Canon RF mount lens. Which specific ND filters to get will depend on the specific photographic application.

To B&H: why does the Kodak 3x3 ND filters show up as accessories at bottom of page? Is there some way to use these with this lens?
Asked by: orion
The Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 RF Lens for Canon RF has a rear filter slot designed for use with gelatin filters. You would have to cut the filter down to size to fit inside the rear filter slot on the back of the Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 RF Lens for Canon RF.
