The charger is extremely slow. Takes forever to fully charge the batteries.

I just purchased a system a couple weeks ago and it's great.

I am an independent contractor. I do photography and videos most of the time on location. With these batteries and recharger they are much faster to charge than the old system. I really like them.

How safe are the batteries, is there a risk of it exploding because of it being Lithium-Ion?

Most batteries made today for camera gear are made of a Lithium-Ion cell. If the Smith-Victor NP-F750 Lithium-Ion battery kit is used and stored properly there should be no issues with explosions or fire.
