Pairing sophistication with flexible imaging capabilities, the Leica SL2 is the second-generation SL camera mixing apt photo and video specifications with a refined design. Featuring a 47.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor and Maestro III image processor, fast and fluent performance enables up to 20 fps continuous shooting, 6 fps shooting with AF-C, 5K video at 30 fps, and DCI 4K60 video with 10-bit color sampling. The sensor's design also incorporates a Leica Object Detection AF system, which uses 225 selectable AF areas for fast and accurate performance. Also complementing photo and video applications, a 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.

Do I have to turn off the IBIS when using it on a tripod?

Leica recommends turning off the IBIS when using a tripod. There is a slight difference in image sharpness when leaving IBIS on.

Does the Camera moire in video mode.? What is the best asa for Video.? I heard no more than 800asa.
Asked by: Gerardo
Being a high megapixel sensor, yes you will notice some moire. The SL2 can handle a bit more ISO than 800, it's all really preference. It can still give you clean results at 1600/3200.

can this camera use M type lens? if so does it need an adapter?
Asked by: Carl
I have both an M10 and this camera. I use the Leica adapter to mount my M lenses on the SL2. I like the M lenses much better than those made for the SL2 (manual operation only of course).

One of my often used set ups is to use a combined Self Timer Delay triggering a Bracket Shot. I found this to be mutually exclusive on the M10 as they are both on the Drive Menu. In the SL2 instruction Manual on Page 134 Bracketing is in the Drive Menu and on Page 135 Self Timer is in the Main Menu As this is Similar to the CL and the main buttons (Function) are the same i would expect the same functionality on the SL2 Can you verify that my assumptions are correct?
Asked by: Jack
On the SL2 (and the SL was the same way) both self timer modes and exposure bracketing modes are in the Drive Settings. So they cannot be used at the same time with the SL2 or SL.

Just received my SL2 and noticed it rattles when lightly shaken or quickly moved. Is this normal?
Asked by: Gary
Hi Gary, This is completely normal. When the camera is turned off the in body image stabilizer (IBIS) is not active allowing the sensor to move and rattle when shaking the camera. Once the camera is on the sensor is stationary. Enjoy your new SL2!
