Panasonic AW-UE4 Reviews

Please believe the reviews! This is JUNK!

We bought this without reading the reviews and what an error it was. As one of my colleagues put it, This is a glorified webcam. A really bad webcam to be honest. If you decide to buy this, be sure to have your screwdriver handy, because you will need it to Point and Tilt this expensive piece of crap.

Shame on Panasonic for this

As with many others, our church wanted to live stream the Mass and our pastor asked me to find as streaming system. Seeing that so many PTZ cameras were out of stock, I was happy to see Panasonic, cameras I've used for over 20 years, finally had an entry level item. In a word, it's trash. There are just two frame rates - 640x360 @30f or [email protected]! Who wants to watch a livestream at 10fps? Configuring it was simple using Panasonic's software, but I couldn't believe the software would NOT turn off the camera's mics, even though the option to do so is there. After initial setup, I'd forgotten I changed the admin to a username and was locked out - there's no system reset - unless you're signed in! I was able to find my username after a bit and got back in. Taking HDMI straight out was an option, but the quality is terrible. Streaming 4K is a non-starter for most places. It's also doesn't offer NDI, so using streaming software such as vMix is not going to work. Hard to believe that a company that produces great products would allow their name to go on such a piece of trash. I've uploaded a cap of the video on Youtube from today, 7/5/20. Don't bother with this camera. Spend a little more and get something good. Very disappointed in Panasonic.

Interesting, but not good enough for streaming any motion

It is very misleading to advertise this as a 4K PTZ. In 4k mode, there is no panning, tilting or zooming even though it looks like it is made to move, so why call it a PTZ? The Panasonic recommended Easy IP app is only for a PC (no Mac version). Deal breakers for me were: 1) maximum resolution/frame rate for streaming at [email protected] (yes, 10 frames per second! Not cool for any motion pictures and especially not for sports!) and 2) no audio input option. On the positive side, the image looks fine and the small size and light weight are nice.

Nice POV Camera for Sports Production

We've been using this camera for Sports and live events production for almost a year and it has always produced beautiful pictures. Being able to digitally pan and tilt the camera and adjust the color balance remotely is huge for us.

Panasonic recommends the AW-RP50, the AW-RP60, and AW-RP150 for best use of this camera. Additionally the camera can be controlled with the Panasonic AW-RM50G wireless remote control. The panasonic rep at NAB says this guy can't pan or tilt, but it's called a "PTZ" what gives?
Asked by: William
It is not a motorized PT head in the practical sense. It "allows" you to pan and zoom from within the 4K full field video. I agree it shouldn't be labelled as a PTZ head.
