Acer CG7 Reviews
Worst Ghosting I've ever experienced.
The color accuracy on this is so-so, the visual response rate is bad, and the options are kinda crazy for how expensive this is. I've been using this monitor for a long time now alongside my predator X27. I've used it with 2 systems now, the current being an i9-11900k and strix 3090oc, so in most games I'm capping the 120hz rate. Lemme tell you, the ghosting on this thing is probably the worst I've ever seen. Running the UFO test on this with all of the bells and whistles going for visual response boosting there are 3.5-4 extra ufo trailing. The ghosting on this is worse than an old tube tv running PS2 games, and acer support is all outsourced, so getting a response from someone who even knows what you're talking about is next to impossible, let alone getting someone who understands anything about monitors. if you like having a big monitor to the side to have extra windows on, sure, but if you're serious about gaming, get yourself a good monitor, not this.
4K gaming
The monitor is the best 4k gaming monitor I have ever seen and since I had this shipped from the US to AUS with zero issues and no damage I highly recommend the monitor and the service.
Turn off Windows HDR
Took advise form reviewer Josh, huge difference, thanks
Amazing performance & quality with extras for advanced users
While getting basic functionality working is very straightforward, getting the most out of this monitor (and accessories) requires a bit more effort. Full 4k 144 Hz refresh rates just requires both display port connections using the included cables and a video card that supports said functionality. The ambient LED backlighting, as many have stated, takes some more work. There's no instructions, so here's how it works: 1.) Attach each self-adhesive LED strip to the individual lighting ports on the back of the monitor (after removing the rubber port covers) and place them on the back of the display as desired. 2.) Basic ambient lighting can be controlled in the on-screen display menu, but you just get solid lighting and basic patterns. Basic ambient lighting controls _all 4_ strips. 3.) Advanced ambient lighting can be controlled with RGB Light Sense software from Acer's website. This gives you the option to control basic lighting (like the hardware-managed on-screen display menu settings) or more advanced control such as matching the colors on the edge of your screen or actual game integration (limited game support, but still pretty cool). The catch to using RGB Light Sense is that it can only control the first 3 lighting ports on the monitor. It seems to need an update to know that the 4th lighting port exists. Perhaps Acer will release updated software to address this in the future. Fantastic picture quality and capable of blinding brightness, this monitor has been great for both productivity and entertainment use.
Best larger 4k monitor I've experienced
The monitor is very bright (have it set to 10 of 100 brightness), colors are very accurate and close to or similar to some professional monitors used for editing, and packs great features like 120hz, HDR1000, LED light strips. The 2 things it doesn't have that I wish it had were Gsync/Gsync Ultimate (instead of Gsync compatible) and a build in USB switch like the professional Dell monitors so I can plug in mouse and keyboard into the monitor and switch between 2 computers without the need to unplugging/plug in the devices. Also recommended is to not turn on HDR in Windows or software but only on the monitor, otherwise it won't work properly.
Stunning monitor, wonderful for working on; terrible OSD
This monitor transformed my pandemic. It is so big and so clear, I have more space than I can use. The brightness is perfect. That said, the OSD is totally bizarre. The manual barely explains what is going on. What is Power sensor level 1? To turn on with USB-C you need to enable the USB charging while off setting. The monitor is super fussy about turning on. Even with quick start it is slow. Cycling through the available sources takes an agonisingly long time and relays trip loudly through the process.
Fabulous monitor!
I didn't realize what a huge difference a really good monitor could make to my gaming experience. Kinda pricey, but worth every penny!!
Great with caveats
Does what it says on the box, overall I'm happy, but there are things I would definitely change. For gaming performance and size, it seems to be the best on the market. If you drop game performance as a big need and you care more about color and image, this might not be the right fit. Color shift is noticeable, straight on looks fine but then a blue shift the further from straight on. The pixel density could be better, I'd have preferred a slightly smaller screen with the same res. It is quick to go to sleep and very slow to power up, which is obnoxious with the amount of input switching I do, but I've figured it out. Wish it had more DP inputs, 2 inputs from 1 computer are required for high frame rate gaming, and I switch between a work laptop and my gaming pc. Feel like DP has better color and image, so I would have preferred an extra DP input for my computer instead of depending on HDMI for it.
