Absolutely worth it.

Sturdy and light, the Really Right Stuff monopod was definitely one of the best purchases I've made in the past year. Really Right Stuff also offers multiple attachments with this monopod, such as ballheads and rails. Truly amazing.

Great quality

The leg of this monopod is very rigid and easy to operate. Every aspect reflects the high quality I have experienced with RRS.

Lighter, stronger, taller

Being tall, my previous monopod usually required me to stoop when shooting. The MC-34 gives me more range--more height when I need it, but collapsible if I want to get low to the ground. This range is especially helpful with an adjustable monopod head because it allows me to shoot up or down, again without stooping. Very sturdy, lighter than aluminum, excellent quality.

Not quite perfect.

I had trouble with the bottom section being difficult to move, and lubricating RRS tripod/monpod legs can be a nightmare. Unfortunately, RRS tech support, previously among the best, is nonexistent at this time, and their video tutorials aren't Oscar-worthy. I'm using a Wimberley MH-100 MonoGimbal Head, which I really like (5/5 stars), despite no QR.

Great monopod!

Solidly built carbon fiber monopod with easy to use, secure and very reliable twist locking mechanism. You can use this monopod with confidence to support heavy camera and lens. Small enough in length to pack for travel. For the price I would also expect a quality storage case but unfortunately it does not come with one. Despite that, I still give it 5 stars!

Lightweight and solid

So far I love this thing. I use it with a Wimberly Monogimbal head for bird photography. Big improvement over my lighter duty and much older Gitzo monopod - though that’s clearly not a fair comparison. This is also much better than handholding a Nikon 500 mm PF lens. As lightweight as it is, my hands are not steady enough to handhold after hiking through the woods a few miles, especially if I have to use a slowish shutter speed. This monopod is easy to extend and collapse, feels rock solid, and is the next best thing to a tripod.

Incredible Quality But Can't Use It

The build quality is second to none. The monopod feels light yet rock solid sturdy. I planned to use this primarily with a heavy Nikkor 300mm f/2.8. And it works great with the tripod foot on the lens. The fatal flaw with this monopod, and why it's being sent back is that the threaded post is too long so there's a 1mm gap between the bottom plate of my cameras and the little round pedestal plate of the monopod. Thus, the camera unscrews easily and won't stay fastened. This happens with every camera I own: Nikon F, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, SP, D850 35Ti, AW1 and Leica CL, M6 and Q2M. The bushing in the cameras is too shallow for the threaded stem. There was no manual in the box either. This is the second one I've ordered, and the first one had a nice little RRS catalog and an instruction manual. It went back because it was 3/8 and not 1/4 because of a mislabeled package. Too bad cause this is Really Nice Stuff-it just won't work with any of my cameras unless I get the hacksaw out and cut the stem down.

Best monopod yet

Very sturdy, light weight, easy to deploy and adjust height quickly. Using with about 15 lbs of camera/lens. No issues.

The top of this monopod does have a 1/4" screw thread to place on cameras or clamps or heads that have a 1/4" screw opening in the bottom.
