FotodioX Pro Automatic Macro Extension Tube Overview

Designed to be attached between a FUJIFILM G-mount camera body and lens, this FotodioX 20mm Pro Automatic Macro Extension Tube allows the lens to focus closer than its normal minimum focus distance. By placing space between the camera body and lens, focusing distance is shortened and the effect of magnifying your subject is created. Extension tubes enable macro performance for lenses not otherwise able to focus as closely and are also suited for near-range portraiture.

This extension tube is the shorter of two FotodioX Pro Automatic macro extension tubes for FUJIFILM G-mount cameras, which can be used individually or in combination to achieve your desired focusing result. A 20mm Pro Automatic Macro Extension Tube for FUJIFILM G-Mount Cameras is separately available.

Extension tubes have no optical elements, so they do not degrade the quality of your lenses. These extension tubes support electronic communication between an attached camera and lens, enabling autofocus, image stabilization, as well as camera-controlled program, aperture-priority, shutter-priority, and manual modes. If an attached lens is also capable of generating Exif metadata when used with a directly compatible camera, this Pro Automatic Macro Extension Tube is designed to allow that information to be saved along with image files generated with a combination of the lens, the camera, and the adapter.

FotodioX Pro Automatic Macro Extension Tube Reviews

Nice solid extension tube

Nice solid all metal construction. Good lock onto the camera (Canon R5). The lens locks on pretty well but it's just a tad out when clicked into the locked position. It still locks but doesn't click as you would if it was a native lens onto a native body.

Works well & easy to use

These extension tubes seem well built. They click into and out of place easily. They are marked with the same red dot the lens uses, so they are easy to line up. Each ring has a button to release whatever is above, the lens or the other ring. It took some practice getting used to using them with the M.Zuiko 12-100 mm zoom, but they work as advertised. All the contacts carry through to the camera. AF and AE still work (AF is unreliable at short distances). I haven't tried it yet with the focus stacking program that's built into the camera.

Good fuji alternative

This tube fits well on both my G50-R and my GF 50m5 f 3.5 lens. No need to use excess force, nor does it stick on either end. AUto focus works as expected within the focusing range. It does not come with caps, so I purchased a fuji GF lens cap and GF camera body cap to avoid having dust settle on the inside of the macro tube during storage. It comes packaged in a wooden box with a rough denim-like inner lining which I found to be unusable and which I promptly discarded.

Fotodiox Extension Tube

This the second time I buy this product. It works very well and do the job. Don't waste your time judging if it is too loose or too tight, it just do the job perfectly. I used it on Sony 85mm F1.8 to photograph flowers and insects. It well maintained autofocus, but the range and the depth of field is limited as expected.

Well made Extension Tube

As Canon don't do an RF Extension tube... this seemed to be the best alternative.... and it is! Very well made and works perfectly with the R cameras. Wait wasn't too bad considering I'm UK based... helps to have taxes taken care of ... this speeds the delivery.

Solid extension tube for RF lenses

By Ian

A nice solidly built extension tube for the EOS R / RF camera system. All metal construction with a good fit to the camera body and lens. The only slight issue I can see that you don't get that measuring click when the lens locks onto the tube, as you do when it locks onto the camera. It does lock on and you can't remove the lens without using the release catch, but, I suspect that the locking pin isn't quite aligned perfectly and so only partially attaching. On the camera the tube does a good job of providing extra magnification as you would expect from something this solidly built. On my Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM it takes the maximum magnification from 0.5x to 0.93x. The combination always seems to be able to focus and the magnification gain is pretty impressive. I did see a review that said you got a wooden storage box with the extender but this didn't turn out to be the case. Which is fine as I thought it was a little over the top. It would have been nice to have a front and rear cap set included but it doesn't come with any. A standard set of Canon RF rear cap and EOS R body caps do the job acceptably but are about 1mm wider than the extension tube.

They work, but they feel so cheap.

They haven't failed me yet, but they just feel so cheap. Even the metal mount feels plastic like their enclosures. Definitely zero confidence in these and its turning me away form FotodioX products in general. Sony really needs to step up and create their own quality built extensions tubes like Canon and Fuji.

How well do these tubes work with the Fuji GF 50mm? Is it possible to get a 1:1 reproduction ratio?
Asked by: Richard
The focusing distance on the GF 50mm lens on its own is 1.8 feet, so the FotodioX 20mm Pro Automatic Macro Extension Tube for FUJIFILM G-Mount may bring the reproduction ratio beyond 1:1.

What size tube is needed to increase magnification on Fuji GF120 Macro lens from 1:2 to 1:1? What would minimum focus distance be ?
Asked by: Pat
To get around 1:1 you on the 120mm lens you need an extension tube that is more 45mm or so. Like this one, FUJIFILM MCEX-45G WR Macro Extension Tube BH #FUMCEX45G • MFR #16576893 https://bhpho.to/31LSQ9n And the closet focus distance with that teleconverter on the 120mm is about 7.4 inches.

Can you use this with Nikon F mount 105 mm lens using FTZ adapter?

Hi, using two different adapters together usually causes problems--you can mount the 105mm F-mount lens to the FTZ adapter and attach it to this extension tube, but it's doubtful that it would perform optimally.
