The lens this replaces won't autofocus on the Nikon Z cameras. Will this lens (when used with the FTZ adapter) autofocus on the Nikon Z 6/7?
Asked by: Theodore
The new Tokina 100mm macro also lacks the focus motor so it would be manual focus only when adapted to the the Nikon Z series cameras. The Sigma 105mm macro has been tested with the Nikon FTZ adapter on the Z series cameras and it works in auto focus mode. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/2QA3jjk

I have a Nikon D7200. Can I use an extension tubes and still keep the aperature at f2.8?
Asked by: Bill
While it would depend on the size of the extension tube you use, theoretically, the answer is no. Using an extension tube on any lens will change the effective f-stop of your lens. The lens' f-stop is a ratio of the lens' focal length to aperture diameter. As an example, a lens that has a 100mm focal length with a physical aperture diameter of 25mm would have an f-stop value of f/4 (as 100÷25=4). When using extension tube(s), you increase the distance of the aperture from the sensor/film, so the size of the aperture in relation to the distance from the sensor decreases, which will effectively increase your working f-stop. If you are using auto extension tubes and Nikon's through-the-lens metering, the Nikon camera should be able to meter the loss in light and display the appropriate new effective f-stop. Other brands may handle this differently and adjust the shutter speed (or ISO if using Auto ISO and depending on your camera settings) to adjust for the loss in light. It will depend on the focal length of your lens and the length of the extension tube as to the theoretical amount of light loss when using said extension tube on your camera/lens setup.
