Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro Overview

Ideal for close-up subjects, the Canon EF-mount Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro is a short telephoto macro lens, offering a life-size, 1:1 maximum magnification along with an 11.8" minimum focusing distance. This lens uses a flat-field optical design to yield realistic rendering, void of field curvature, as well as high sharpness and clarity throughout the focusing range. A multilayered coating has also been applied to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and improved color fidelity. Complementing the optics, this lens features a One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for fast changing between AF and MF settings, and a focus range limiter switch helps to achieve faster focusing performance at close-up distances.

This short-telephoto prime is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 160mm equivalent focal length.
True macro design affords a life-size 1:1 maximum magnification along with an 11.8" minimum focusing distance to suit photographing close-up subjects.
Flat-field optical design helps to greatly reduce field curvature in order to realize consistent, edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination throughout the aperture and focusing ranges.
Multilayered coating helps to alleviate lens flare and ghosting when working in strong lighting conditions.
Autofocus system offers fast, precise focusing capabilities and a One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism avails quick switching between autofocus and manual focus settings by either pushing or pulling the focus ring. When set to manual, focus response is especially smooth and benefitted by hard stops at the ends of the focusing range.
Focus range limiter switch can lock the focusing range to a macro range for faster close-up focusing and to avoid unnecessary AF hunting.
Extending lens barrel does not rotate in order to retain the ability to work with polarizing and graduated filter types.
Nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Solid lens, more of a portrait lens for my use-case. Decently built- on par with on-brand lenses.

very please with this lens. I'm using it on my Canon R5 with a EF-R adapter. Auto focus, focus bracketing and aperture work perfect.

A cost-effective dream for toy photographers

Affordable, high quality, and intuitive. My favorite qualities in any piece of hardware, and this lens is certainly no exception. As a toy photographer who inherited a wonderful landscape and portraiture set-up, the rest of my arsenal left a noticeable gap which made it difficult to capture clear close-ups on 4 subjects. After a week of playing around, I feel confident this lens will always be nearby if not living on the camera at all times. It would have been very easy to spend more (a lot more) but on paper, the differences are so minimal, most wouldn't even notice. Once again, Tokina brings the sort of quality I'm looking for at a price point I can stomach. Love it!

I've always known this lens to have a cult following, and apparently, for good reason. I've carried it for several years now for landscape photographer. I would never go anywhere without it. The rendition is like nothing I've ever seen before. My all time favorite image was taken with this lens, and it has been surprisingly durable through my travels.

The Tokina atx-i was recommended to me as an affordable macro lens. I discovered it performs as well as any lens twice the price. Images are sharp and crisp. My wife's gardens have come alive with this lens!
